Reason why it was big in South East Asia is because you can run Crossfire on a potato PC. Not everyone has access to a mid tier PC in Asia. The game being simple and easy to play is one of the reasons why it is still a huge hit. Lots of people are still playing Crossfire as of this moment.

The original game published in my country have greedy monitization too. It's just a f2p Counter Strike knockoff at first and not everyone one here know about CS so it got the upperhand with all the marketing. Later the publisher just got more greedy and follow all the trending way of making money like lootbox and now battlepass.

The map that was being played in crossfire X in this video is exactly like de_dust2 in counterstrike. Haven't played counterstrike in over a decade but I know de_dust2 when I see it lol.

In CS days what the player does in this video is scout double doors for short A, go through CT spawn to A, goes down short A jumps back down to double doors, goes up to B. Typical OGL scrim strat for a person that spawns right side CT spawn. Lol

When I was a kid I played Crossfire ghost mode and had tons of fun with it, I'm surprised modern multiplayer FPS games don't have something similar. This new version seem like it doesn't even have that mode which is lame. For people that don't know it's your typical CSGO bomb planting mode with A and B route but with a twist, the side that need to plant the bomb is "invisible" (almost invisible when moving but you can still see a little bit, when they stand still then it's 100% invisible) but they don't have access to any guns only melee weapons. What's interesting is that the other side that has guns and need to hunt the invisible ghost can rely on their stereo/surround headphone to pin point the ghost's breathing sound, and the "ghost" can bunny hope to keep being 100% invisible while moving very fast around(totally unintended from the devs but make the game has way more skill ceiling).

I remember playing the old Crossfire on a very slow as all hell Windows XP as a kid. Parents could not afford an Xbox 360 or PS3 or Wii so the next best thing was an old beat up desktop lol! While everyone at school was playing all the new games on console, I had cross fire and a pirated copy of counterstrike that only let me play on Singapore servers. Or maybe I just couldn't figure out how to switch them. I was only 9 !

Crossfire brings back memories. Back then people play it because it was a lot more accessible than CS. It had a launcher (one of my earliest experiences with launchers), it was simple. You copy the launcher from your friend, you open it, you click download and wait for eternity on your very expensive slow, and limited dial-up connection, and when it's done, you click play, and then that's it. It was easy to find rooms and hop into the action. Sure, there was no quality at all, just f2p traps but we didn't have much else to pick from, our standards were very low​ so it was good enough. Sure, CS was around back then but it was so much trouble to pirate and set up. Even if we got the money, there was no way to buy legit games so we had to pirate ourselves or buy pirated copies on discs anyway. But we didn't know shit about computers and internet. I remember being very happy I got to download Counter-Strike.exe (1KB) and tried clicking on it then my laptop went to shit so I had to send it to a computer shop so they could wipe it and reinstall Windows after like a friggin week for like $10, which was very expensive. So I just stuck to Crossfire since it was still fun anyway. Everybody and their cousins played it so everyone had something to say to each other about it during classes and breaks. I remember playing Ghost mode, your classic CS bomb defusal mode except the Ts are invisible but their transparent silhouettes can be seen while moving and they breathe loudly, run really fast and can only use melee weapons. It ripped off a lot of CS maps and changed textures and added weird paths too. It was trash but I got to play it with friends so that was what mattered. It was really fun until the MTX got so bad I decided skipping my lunches to buy the guns and items wasn't worth it anymore. Never looked back until you guys mention it in your previous videos. I've come a long way since then lol

That bomb plant map is just Dust in Counterstrike. Both the location of the bomb sites, the area around the bomb sites and the doors is just a variant of Dust.

I remember playing crossfire and combat arms on the family windows vista . Only two games it can keep 60+ frames without crashing. I remember playing scrims with my clan mates actually doing tourney’s getting ranked top 500 in the clan rankings man this game was so much fun met great people met annoying hackers asking my mom for z8 10$ game cards. I’m downloading it regardless for nostalgia(I liked the beta)

I'm hoping that they can turn this game around and provide some much-needed improvements soon. I think that a CS GO style game on Xbox would do quite well, I loved the idea of warfare breakout but that game shouldn't have been 30 bucks. I think with the controls being refined, more maps being added, and bugs polished out, this game could do quite well.

I don't mind a little competition, but most often I wanna be able to just jump into a map and enjoy a fun time with people without worrying about my KD or whatever

Crossfire comes to South East Asia in around 2008 and it became the first competitive shooter game that have big reward tournament so it became so popular and it's free. For what I see here Nexon doesn't add much in the new game just a bit reskin.

crossfire is similar to counterstrike from its look but very different in the basic design logic. counterstrike is designed in a competitive perspective where the game is 100% reflected by the players' performance. Any slight performance gap between the players will lead to severe differences in the match result. In crossfire, it is the opposite. All the features are designed only to make the game more fun to play. There is a lot of pay to win items to even the performance gap. You can ever take accurate shots while moving. They also take many game modes from the cs servers and implement them as the official game modes. Crossfire is way less stressful compared to counterstike which is one of the main reasons for its massive population in my belief.

The thing I love the most about crossfire is the variety (Not CFX, but og CF). From guns to maps to modes, there was a lot - and i mean A LOT. Modes such as Ghost mode, Shadow mode, the Zombie mode, Zombie Apocalypse, Wave mode, and more. And even those modes have branches of varieties as well. The thing that I dont like about it is its PTW and copycat maps, but if you log in today, you will get a permanent VIP weapon. Almost everyone today is horsing around with a VIP weapon theyve just got from logging in. And i hope CFX will improve in the future.

Only played the MP and have to agree with everything said here. The core takeaway from playing CFX is that whilst in the *menus* and when *playing the game* all I could think about it how CODCW did *everything* better. I hope they patch it to be good.

The games fun just needs more maps search and destroys mode is awesome, domination type mode is fun also enjoyed the team deathmatch just needs more maps and do not lock maps to specific game modes you should be able to play any mode on all maps easy 1000G too

I think it's fun the only annoyance I have is the maps only one per game mode but other than that it's a learning curve but it's def something to play and grind with friends it's a good 7.5/10

The spectre campaign was pretty damn awesome and fun. 10x more action than catalyst. I give it a 10/10. catalyst a 7.5/10. The multiplayer isn't really that exciting though, I give it a 5/10.

It's just a hollow game without the campaign. The campaigns are good, the only thing actually good about crossfire X.

I dont mind the multiplayer, its different but my only complaint is there is not enough maps at launch. And that each mode is tied to a specific map. If smilegate could add more maps and fine tune the shooting then it might be a great alternative to CSGO.

I use to play this on pc and Heroes Mutation was so much fun when you become the hero after a certain amount of players die and slay every monster

really didn't enjoy the multiplayer. i think there's something to the single player though. yeah it's a little generic but it felt pretty good, and was cool seeing bullet time in a modern fps. Remedy probably made the most interesting fps since Spec Ops: The Line, and it should be noted this is their first fps. i would be very intrigued to see them try another fps with what they've learned from this game. it could be something really special

Multiplayer is middle of the road for me. The UI sucks which saps so much fun out of the game. I don't like the search and destroy mode it's not fun but the tdm and infection type modes I had fun in. It's got room to improve but I doubt they can do it fast enough to save this game

1:40 yep, that is definitely a blatant Dust 2 ripoff. the old Crossfire was so fun. Me and my little brother played it a ton and killstreaks felt extremely satisfying. Co-op and mutant mode were also super fun.

I'm disappointed that the multiplayer feels bland/dated I was expecting a whole lot more I'll still definitely check it out though as it is free to play but the campaign I'm excited for especially now. You can see that Remedy influence creeping in and I'm all for it the slow down mechanic being similar to SuperHot is great as I loved the way it worked. The campaign overall looks Really fun slightly saddened by the multiplayer side but I was gunning for the story anyway so I'll take it hopefully the game does get worked on and it becomes what it's supposed to be a greater CSGO/Competitor to Counter-Strike it's had billions of players so it has to be doing something right possibly the multiplayer is better suited to PC unfortunately.

I have been looking forward to the campaigns on this game as it they do look like proper fun then they said camping one would be available when you download it from GamePass, then just started the game and the one that was said to be included with GamePass Ultimate is behind a pay wall. Not only is what this video was talking about the marketing for this game via GamePass is lying. What a shame.

Shit its out now? Spend 8 months testing that game back in 2017 at Remedy. Right from the get go of the video it hit me hard with the nostalgic vibes and how many hours I spent testing weapons in that arena (shown at the start of the video).
