Hi there!
This is a documentation about my walk across Australia in 2019.
I did not plan to hike the length of Australia, but different circumstances changed my plan. I had actually planned to hike the 5330km long Bicentennial National trail, which goes from Cooktown to Healsville.
However, first i walked the Great North walk (Sydney-Newcasle-250km), then 450km on the Australian Alps walking track before i got stopped by bushfires. After a couple of weeks in Melbourne i started at St Kilda Beach, followed the Great dividing range and made it to the Tip. Afterwards i flew from Cairns to Hobart,Tasmania and hiked there around 300km.
I could tell so many more stories, but i did not take any pictures or clips at the time i was enjoying the company of new friends. I‘m glad about every encounter i had before, along and after the trail.
Thanks sooo much again to all the people i met!!
I would not recommend to cross the country, if you just do it for the trail, but if you want to explore a gnarly backcountry and meet some of the loveliest people on earth…Do it!
Happy Hiking all!
Peace,
Teddy
Ps: Stay tuned for my next adventure…

Been here my whole life and you've seen and experienced more of the countryside than I have, I envy that. At least for me, definitely some pretty hard trekking on those rough trails. The people you mentioned around the 26min mark reminds me of when my brothers and I used to go camping here in NSW, middle of nowhere, no towns or people to be seen anywhere, special times. Glad to hear you stumbled upon some great people along your journey and the Aussie spirit in people is still kicking strong outside the big cities. Good on ya mate and cheers for sharing your memories. 😎

Thank you you making the video. It highlights how run down and neglected and over looked the trail is. This trail has the potential to be amazing like other trails in other countries. What an amazing effort you made to complete the journey. Very inspirational.

Thanks mate, yeah it has the potential but i guess its even for experienced hikers to difficult…cities are too far apart, water is rare and you have to take a lot care about wildlife…also very rewarding 🎉

Great video. Planning to hike solo (south to north direction wise). Is there a chance I can uplink and get contacts for people like Michael for planning? Thanks! 😊

This is amazing. I traveled in a giant loop through the center of Australia to the tip of cape york and down the east coast around 2010, as a 4x4 support vehicle for 3 friends who did it on motocross bikes. It was a fantastic adventure. I love hiking too (i live in the Blue Mountains, its a shame you didn't see the beauty of it all... and the canyons! so many amazing canyons) but i've never thought about hiking.... for weeks? or longer! but i think i would love it. I need to do this now, nothing as long as you've done, but something like a month. You've put a plan in my head that i never had before!

@@teddymetzler2714 thanks for sure i have question like what the longest distance between water resupplies and food supply distance
@teddymetzler2714
@teddymetzler2714 Жыл бұрын
@@Bikepacking puhh i think the longest without water was like 100-120km, but i also consider dirty paddles as water resource. The longest inbetween towns was like 700km
