We just discovered your series! AWESOME!! My wife’s parents (dad and late mom) still own the PITFIELD GENERAL STORE you paddled past in the Killarney Channel! It was so cool to see that. We were hoping you would be going inside the store to stock up on supplies or a bag of chips lol Now sharing your video with Killarney friends and family :) thx for a great video - well done. And yeah - omg that HUGE bass you caught! Wow

@PAINT_S_CAPES8 ай бұрын
@@CanoeTheNorth haha that’s too cool! You should film it next time! Terrie’s dad Bill is turning 89 this year and still working there some days, as is her baby sister Sue ;) Terrie and her siblings were raised in the beautiful loft above the store (most amazing view across the bay) and Sue has been living up there for at least as long as I’ve been with Terrie 🏳️🌈 (going on 29 years!) That store is very special. One memory she brings up is of her dad jumping off the dock every evening after work and many seasonal boaters who would bring her little gifts when they would come stock up at the beginning of the season. That store front from the rear view has been captured many times in photo and paints, in fact a local artist is currently auctioning off a painting of it right now as a fundraiser to help her brother and his wife. I’ll email you the poster so you can see the painting. Such a small world. And believe it or not, out of all the episodes, the crossing Huron one is the one we picked to watch first cause we were hoping to see footage of Manitoulin Island as that is our permanent home for the past 15 years (Silverwater - best sunsets in the world). Low n behold…. there was Terrie’s store! And the channel view. Sooo soo awesome!! So ty!!!

What an epic trip! I envy your youth and enthusiasm and environmental sensitivity, not to mention your great travelling companions. When we were your age we did canoe trips to Quetico and later Killarney and lived in the Yukon for 3 years where we hiked a lot. I took up kayaking some years ago and had the good fortune to do several of this videos sections. French River, Killarney and Philip Edward Island and the Lacloche/ Whalesback Channel. We live in a beautiful part of Ontario. Even though my camping days are likely over I still can do day trips and I can see the LaCloche area from my home. You have such a great future ahead for trips. Thank you!

What a great trip! The wildlife was amazing. So many bears. What was that bird with the unusual (to me) call? Was it some type of crane? It was beautiful. I know exactly why you do these kind of trips. Ashley described it perfectly. Thanks for another fantastic video. Now, bring on the snow! 😆

Hi Alan. Thanks for the comment. That bird is a Sandhill Crane. Beautiful and huge bird. We seem to be seeing more and more of them now. As sad as it is to see the water freeze up we are looking forward to winter as well. Thanks again!

Sandhill cranes were once used (efforts continue) as surrogate mating pairs in an effort to save the last Whooping cranes left on Earth. There were only 52 Whooping cranes left alive in the 1970s. The surrogate program has presented challenges to U.S. and Canadian scientists but they have managed to increase the population to approximately 800 with the help of nature preserves and conservation efforts. Sandhills are the only species of crane that are not in danger of extinction although the area where Ashley and Keenan are is the Southern most limit for their summer breeding season. A & K are close to where a Whooping crane was found dead, shot by some moron, four years ago.

Biggest bass I’ve ever caught that’s for sure. I was using the smallest spoon in my tackle box and I cannot believe I landed that one. Appreciate you taking the time to watch and comment. Hope you and your pup had a great paddling season! Thanks Jay.
