The Epic Solar Eclipse In Totality On A Backcountry Spring Canoe Trip

This is the first canoe trip of the season for me in 2024. The ice had just come off and all I had heard about on the news was the total solar eclipse that would cover parts of Ontario in darkness. At the last minute, after seeing that Frontenac provincial park laid within the path of totality, I decided that my first real canoe trip of the season would be me chasing the total eclipse of 2024. What a trip it would be!
At the time, I had no idea what I was doing, or how I would capture the eclipse, but I could not be happier or more excited to have been witness to such an incredible experience! During the eclipse, the clouds parted just enough to get some shots that I think really show the awesome beauty of this extraordinary event.
I sincerely loved this trip and could not be more happy to share this experience with you. What an incredible start to the paddling season! This is going to be an awesome year on the water.

Just wanted to thank everyone for all of the nice comments and support we’ve received recently. It’s all very much appreciated. Just a side note on the drone footage - it was all taken outside of the parks boundaries either from crown or private land. Hope everyone enjoys the video and is heading back into the water. Should be an unbelievable year for paddling. We’ve got some big plans this season and will more than likely have very limited posts for the foreseeable future. What a special way to kickstart a new paddle season Keenan, with not just the eclipse, but the variety of birds and the beaver in a tree! Stunning. What a great start to the canoe season. Porcupine was my fave, love those creatures. We missed the eclipse as I was training in Arizona so nice to see it ‘live’ 😊

Actually made me well up. What an incredible document of a powerful experience. Briefly toyed with getting the canoe out somewhere for that day, but wasn't able to pull it off. Still got to witness the eclipse under perfect skies in Port Stanley with my favourite people, and it was deeply moving. Your film completely incapsulates what is so inadequately put into words when trying to relate what it felt like to others. Amazing work Keenan, truly spectacular. Can not wait for everything and anything you get to accomplish this season.

Thank you Keenan I liked seeing the porcupine in the tree, the eagle I believe is a imature eagle, I have seen a Golden eagle once going from yellowknife to rae edzo it was huge. I appreciate you sensitivity to nature and all the animals on your journey. Seeing the solar eclipse and the diamonds gives me hope for the protection of nature and its inhabitants. This is just insanely great...in Massachusetts we call it wicked awesome...but this is as good as anything anybody is making anywhere. Been with this channel and watched it grow and its just gonna keep going.. you Canadien Dudes are the best thing on youtube as far as im concerned and you are as good a filmmaker as there is ! Wow!
