Great to see a biker who doesn't mind driving in the rain...Last week I drove from Wolverhampton to Chesterfield in the worst down pour I have experienced on the BMW R100GS (1990) in 35 years of all weather biking...There was 2 ft (60cm) flooding in 3 areas enroute...Traffic had come to a standstill and I even witnessed a Range Rover stranded with hazard lights on and a few other cars abandoned...I managed to drive thru every flood on the bike, the worst one was actually up to my ankles on the footpegs covering both cylinder heads ,was pretty scary when the clutch started to slip dramatically in the middle of the floods but gave enough grip to pull me gently to the other side...Water must have found its way into the dry clutch but spun out on exiting the flood within a couple seconds...I got home ok!

It's great to see you back on the road again, and posting vids! The start of your new journey seems just like the start of all of my long road trips(measured in mere weeks however!); I just keep in mind that I can usually escape the weather if I travel far enough, fast enough and then just get on with it(although sometimes it takes a few days to escape the rain). Dealing with rain really shapes my tire buying preferences, and the one time I decided to get a new to me full-dress tourer(300+ kg) and ride it 1500 km back home, without swapping the tires out; I almost went down crossing an intersection while there was some light rain. If I had put good tires on the bike, I know that would not have happened because I have accidentally popped the front tire up into the air before, while testing out a set of new Michelin Pilot road tires in the rain. And that was on a much lighter Sport tourer without the bags being mounted. Stay safe out there and have fun!

A mere 87mph. 153mph(246kph) was fun back in 1981, traffic I passed on the motorway in UK appeared to be stopped or in some cases, going backwards. These are tame times we live in nowadays. Trying not to be distracted by the lights of Rotterdam off to left, while riding 2-up stoned out of my mind on *aki black(careful, PC times), coming back to Amsterdam from Hoorn at night 140mph(225kph), same year. Then from vantage point of the bar we were in, noticing fat rear Pirelli Phantom was flat as a pancake. What drew my vision to rear wheel was a large rat passing by it. On edge of a canal. Equiv of Dutch AA came out. First chap parked his Renault4? van, didn`t put his handbrake on. His mate in another van gave him a friendly nudge and a mad scramble ensued to stop runaway van. They wouldn`t take a guilder off me, bless them...and a total stranger bought my mate and I a drink. Is Holland still that friendly, not been back, since the ferry very nearly sank in a Force 9 on that night trip back from The Hook to Harwich. What an experience to end our two weeks packed adventure in Holland! Enough to write a book.

On the big stone Jesus i depictured and on the side there is a text "King Harald ordered these kumbls made in memory of Gorm, his father, and in memory of Thyra, his mother; that Harald who won for himself all of Denmark and Norway and made the Danes Christian".
