Noraly, what protection do you take for yourself and for you bike against being broken down or crashed in one of these remote places? I understand that you have many years experience, but do you also carry with you some equipment or use some processes that give you a little more safety against being stuck or hurt remote?

You can only get the tar off by kerosene or diesel, turpentine or thinners but kerosene is best

Hi Noraly, so sorry about the tar❣️ 😮 The same thing happened to us (our car) a few years back on our way to Konya. Luckily, a man at a petrol station cleaned it for us with diesel. After that we washed the car and it was all perfectly clean and shiny. ❤

I don’t think it’s something to complain about. It’s great that the government gets out into remote areas and maintains the road surfaces. They’re using a very liquid mix of bitumen, which binds the dirt and gravel together. It’s a remote area and they’ll do it with a small crew and won’t bother with the signage and closures exactly because it’s a remote area without much traffic.

Noraly, you can easily remove the tar splashes on Frankie with diesel fuel. Just apply it on dry cloth and wipe everything off. Good luck and safe rides to you.

This is exactly how my council repairs roads. They don't even get out of the truck, there's a sprayer on the front of the truck.

Unacceptable is too true. Not only for Frankie and other riders and drivers but, that tar is and ugly scar on the beautiful nakedness of those mountains 😢

A fine ride on the tarred mountains. Only one complaint about Frankie. The Odometer is not visible and we are not able to identify the speed. A stunning landscape, Noraly

That doesn’t look like tar to me. It looks like old engine oil. They are likely dumping it illegally along the road. It should be reported. That is disgusting.

Back in the early mid 90s, I travelled to north Crimea, the countryside reminds me a lot of that, rocks, with grass and occasional clumps of light green forest... though in Crimea it was more ailaani-tree & acacia rather than olives, but the rock formation and general feel was very similar.
