Midline is an imaginary line that runs down the center of our body from the top of our head to our toes dividing our body into two equal parts. Many of our movements during the day require us to cross this imaginary line. Check out this video to learn why crossing midline is so important, and fun ways to help kids work on this skill!

I'm concerned that there are still so many paediatric therapists around the world sharing crossing the midline information. Please share up to date evidence that this is an evidence based intervention. Task specific intervention based around developing a child's hand roles in every day tasks and play is best practice and has been since the 90's. There is much more evidence in developing "hand role differentiation" than there is for a vague concept such as crossing the midline. The idea has led so many parents to think that this intervention can cure their child's reading, writing and motor difficulties. Hopefully this leads some therapists and parents to look for legitimate research on what is best for their child.
