Crossing Mindanao's NEW LONGEST BRIDGE (Panguil Bay)

THIS WAS THE REASON FOR MY TRIP.
Crossing Mindanao's New Longest Bridge, which spans Panguil Bay between Tubod in Lanao del Norte and Tangub in Misamis Occidental; at a length of 3.7km it's one of the longest in the country!
From Olutanga and its under construction Guicam-Olutanga Bridge (which is much shorter), I rode through Pagadian and back to Misamis Occidental.
This underrated province packs so much into a small area - every town has so many easily accessible spots! And it's so great to be back, from Oroquieta to Aloran to Tudela to Ozamiz; from coast to highlands to valleys.
Finally, I was one of the first to cross the new bridge at 12:10pm... and what an experience it was!

Maayong bungkag, Kumander. These communities are so scenic and very beautiful. The Boathouse is such a unique ancestral house. How fun is that? And what a great story behind it. Very fitting that it should house the ticket office for the ferry. I'm glad you got to see the fort from the inside out this time. Such a historic place. It's good that the Philippines preserves these historic places. Even if it may reflect a difficult period in Philippine history, it's vital to keep these sites so people don't forget their history and remember how far their country has come. I had to laugh at a Filipino and a Brit comparing historic events to the age of America. I thought only Americans did that. 😂 I've seen many gorgeous rainbows in Hawaii, but this one at sunset 19:38 is one of the most spectacular ever! 🌈

This project and the funding was approved during PNoy term. When PNoy stepped down, Duterte included this in his BBB. Finished during BBM term. Simple research will do wonders.

The planning and implementation of this bridge, including its financing was approved by the late President Noynoy Aquino. The DPWH said that discussions for the project begun on 2014. The agreement to finance the project secured funding with the Export Import Bank of Korea Economic Development Cooperation Fund was signed by Pres. Aquino on April 28, 2016. It was Pres Aquino's big ticket infrastructure project.
