I appreciate the frat/soro culture. Fortunately, I revisit campus life through KZbin . I LOVE the cohesion, sense of purpose and unity. Divine 9 contributions are deeply embedded in those memories. That being said. No one should have to suffer kidney damage or any other long term disability, to become a part of an organization.

Thank you for this series- it is very informative, though brief, and has helped me understand the rich culture and importance of Black Greek Life I have observed around me since moving to Louisiana. Side note: it also helps me frame why line dances (and, of course, stepping and strolling) seem to be a large part of the non-Greek culture too.

My late great aunt and her daughter(my cousin) are life time members of Delta Sigma Theta. My late great Uncle was a Kappa.

The Brother responded poorly to her initial question of Black Greek origins. We created our own due to the significant and historical racism of the times. The white Greeks refused to admit people of color and so we created our own.
