As a local resident, Welcome back to Canada and Thanks for visiting. At the 15:30 mark, sorry, our currency is NOT in metres but dollars. Also, NOTL (Niagara on the Lake) is a tourist area, you paid tourist prices for that dough chimney. Lovely cat, i have a grey also... Lady Scarlet O'Hair-a.

Sorry we have to give you a hard time. I live in a border town with the US. We have a lot of trouble with people coming from the US bringing in guns and drugs. I don’t care what anyone says. It depends on the border guard you get. Some are no problem. Some are Laissez-faire others are nitpickers. I’m a Canadian who used to visit this US a lot and I dreaded border crossing because until you saw who it was and talked to them you never knew what was going to happen. And yes, it works the same same way, going from Canada to the US.

Thanks for entering via the Queenston-Lewiston Bridge, instead of one of the Niagara Falls bridges, as Niagara-on-the-Lake is a much more beautiful, quaint and historic entry point to Canada than tacky Niagara Falls. Although I no longer live there, I grew up in the Niagara Region--St. Catharines to be specific--and always preferred to take family and friends who were visiting the area to N-O-T-L than the overcrowded and over-priced Falls. I hope you got a chance to check out the Christmas shop? I'm also glad that you stopped in my hometown of St. Catharines, which is often overlooked by visitors to Niagara Falls. The little tidbit of info about about Lakeside Park & the connection to Rush's Neal Peart is also much appreciated! I spent many summer afternoons and evenings at Lakeside as a teenager. Welcome to my home turf! I hope you all enjoyed yourselves, including the kitty!

Have you ever tried to park in any other tourist area like New York City, or Chicago or Los Angeles? Unfortunately, free parking is a thing of the past anywhere you travel now. If you head to Toronto, that’s where you’ll get the real shock about parking . “Canadian currency is in meters”??????? What the heck is that? Canadian currency is in Canadian dollars! It has absolutely nothing to do with the metric system of measurement. A little research goes along way! I don’t know if any other persons have commented on that, but I’m just laughing too hard to read the other comments. @@SteveAudra Well, I guess it’s because all the drugs coming from Mexico over the border maybe that’s why the border control is that bad but there are a lot of criminals order control that let people go through with drugs. That’s why the US and Canada are filled with drugs. It’s sad.

Thank you for visiting Ontario and Canada for the second time. Niagara Falls used to be known as the "Honeymoon Capital of the World." They don't use that line anymore. You two still look like you are on your honeymoon! As far as the CBSA (Canada Border Services Agency) officer asking about where you live and sending to you to "immigration." Crossing an international border by land is very different than by air. By air in general people have a return ticket and more than likely will be returning home. By land its basically a "one way ticket." By you saying "we live in the van" 'we have a mailing address" etc. She is hearing you do not have a permanent home to return to or a traditional job to return to (you work remotely) The fear of the officer is that you will permanently stay in the country (illegal alien) and not return to the USA thus sending you to "secondary." or "immigration" as she called it. Weapons to defend you from wild animals is Ok to carry. Be safe and happy RVing. "keep your stick on the ice"

That border lady had no reason to send you to immigration, I mean technically it was because you told her you travelled full time (dont do that) but she should have just sent you on your way. Thankfully the second guy had a brain.

Going to Canada, nope! Border Patrol are very difficult people to deal with,Period. They need to learn from the European countries, way much easier to travel. Even if you tell them you are going to Alaska, they make it very difficult, really!

I've been to Canada 5 times on vacation while towing a boat. They acted like I wasnt going fishing, lol. I know they ask a lot. I seen people get their vehicle torn apart while we were able to go past them. Consider the source and what is going on. Most people dont live in a van with no time that they need to be home. Most dont roam around "aimlessly" They have no idea what you may have or be smuggling in your van. I was thinking " who would cut out a kitty shaped area for the cat if they were smuggling drugs, lol? It appears they didnt search you. DId they search coming back? BTW, they took Ginger's pepper spray back in 1999 but we got it back on the way home. It's funny how we see commercials inviting US citizens to come fish and hunt but they wont allow guns there. LOL
