It often tends to be a certain type of personality too. Those who *display* a heightened sense of empathy but that lack an appreciation for freedom; they are often the "mothering" type. Not always women, but more often women that men. It a harmful attitude to force on people, other than your own children, that is full of self-importance (I'm stronger than "those people" who need my protection) and ignorant of the harm its doing (either the belittling annoyance or dependence it can cause).

Um, no. If he's a pastor, he's usually the first line of call if anyone in his congregation has a problem and sees problems from a very serious angle. He's the one doing counseling for people, performing funerals, speaking out against injustice (as is a call for a Christian), so if he's sensitive he has to be. He's usually on the front line with folks who they're attacking. We're coming up against a lot in the church, and because of our silence, a lot of evil has been done in God's name or under our noses, and it's time for it to stop.

I'm from Venezuela, from a state called Zulia, and identify so much with what the Jewish young man is saying. We zulians make fun of EVERYTHING, and when one person can't take a joke we actually "gang up" on them and make fun of them until they leave pissed off or they learn to take a joke. Next to last time I was there, I was with a group of friends at the movie theatre, and in the middle of the freaking movie (I believe it was "Frozen" or any other Disney film) a couple of thugs stood and robbed the movie goers, two things happened immediately. 1 People complied and handed their phones and money. 2 We started making jokes while being robbed, things like "couldn't you have waited for the song to finish?" Or "could you rob us quietly? We're watching a movie here". After the movie ended most of the movie goers were still making jokes while leaving the theatre, and my friends and I went to have dinner after and we were retelling the story at the street food cart and the guys at the food cart started telling us about when the had been robbed and again we were all cracking up at the situation. Last time I was there, we could only eat once a day, cause food is super expensive, my mom and me were making jokes about how great a socialist regime is in making you slim down quickly. Even joked about offering a package for brides to be who want to lose weight before the wedding. Being able to laugh amidst tragedy is a great tool to have, in my opinion, tough times seem to go faster and problems seem to get resolved "quicklier". (I know it's not a word 😅)

@@axeman2638 because when things go wrong people blame minority groups, every culture, just historically most places had two or three minority groups, and most groups other than Jews werent in many places. When Poland had the Anti-Jewish pogroms they also went after the Scottish community in Poland, the difference is after a few dozen pogroms the Scots left, the Jews stuck around. And it was the same in many other places. Understanding the history of attacking and blaming "the other" for problems as a distraction by political leaders is an old things. Jews just happen to have been all over the world as a minority group so they got targeted along with the others, but as whole have been exposed to a lot more because of the diaspora dispersion.

I hung out with a Jewish guy who was a Captain in the US Army . He worked in Military Intelligence... an oxymoron at best . All we ever called him was Cap’n Cohen .... He had some really dark Jewish jokes , but I can’t remember any of them . But I remember the hilarity ( remember , we are all short-haired , clean shaven , fit young men in uniform at the time ) ... when a group of obviously left leaning young ladies started yelling at us , calling us the “N” word you can’t say on KZbin anymore ... no, not THAT one , although a couple of us WERE of a darker shade than the rest ... The one that starts with “N “ and ends in “I” ... and has a “ Z” in the middle . Cap’n Cohen , being the senior officer present , immediately started shouting orders at us in English , flavored by a perfectly executed , movie villain version of a German accent . We responded , of course , by coming to “ attention “ and shouting “ Jawohl !!!” ... The young ladies failed to see the humor in the situation , not surprising , as the Left are an amazingly humorless bunch of individuals ... We thought it excruciatingly funny , watching Cap’n Cohen strutting around in his best Prussian military manner , spouting off faintly sinister orders ... all that was missing was the swagger stick . One or two of us would spontaneously break out into a few bars of “ Deutschland Uber Alles “ from time to time for the rest of the day ... They complained , of course ... and Cap’n Cohen got the word down from the head-shed that he shouldn’t do that anymore ... conduct unbecoming, and all that ... Seems nobody appreciates our sense of humor ...
