the psychotic man ghost spiders joke wasnt unnacceptable, it just didnt hit, like if it had been a simpler thing like because he didnt know how he was on the side he was originally on anyway or something like that, it would be funnier, it wasnt hard hitting or offensive it just wasnt cognizant.
@Ekitchi0

Yeah, I didn't get the joke. I'm not a native English speaker, so I'm sometimes lacking the references or vocabulary. Maybe something like: "because of the big bad unicorn chasing him" I would have gotten it quicker.
@willythemailboy2
@willythemailboy2 5 жыл бұрын
@@Ekitchi0 Yeah, the joke fell flat not due to the mental health aspect of it but the ghost spiders bit. The fear was disturbing enough that it sucked the humor out of the rest of the joke. Something like an invisible ax wielding clown chasing him would have actually been funny.
@CiruPlays
@CiruPlays 5 жыл бұрын
@@willythemailboy2 no it's not really that, either, i just felt like the joke was too crowded, too much to think about at once, it's like saying "why did the chicken cross the road" and then saying "well, chickens are complex creatures capable of many ideals of thought, one might say that they would cross the road due to an innate sense of need to feed, or for many other reasons" like it's not funny XD

I am a native English speaker, and I didn't get this one either. Maybe it's an Australian thing? I'm a man with clinical depression, and I've been suicidal throughout my life. I found the corpse joke hilarious, because it's true. As Adam said, talking about it and joking about it can really help. Don't worry about offending us, it's better to joke about depression than to have to hide it away like a dirty secret.

He’s too afraid of ‘crossing the line’. Norm Macdonald has harsher jokes, and he doesn’t have a show “attempting” to find the line.

I personally like to make jokes about my problems and i keep it as dark as possible. And it really helps me to keep my spirits up and gives me a laugh once in a while. It also helps me to share them with others as it does not get uncomfortable because of the jokes.

It’s crazy to me that these questions even come up among adults. Comedians are supposed to be funny. If you don’t think they’re funny, don’t watch them. That’s it. Your feelings and personal experience are exactly that-yours, which is often synonymous with irrelevant. Everyone else can’t be expected to accommodate you. If comedy offends you, find another form of entertainment because if you do have a “line” it is most certainly going to be crossed. Grow up and have a nice day.

I enjoyed watching a few of these CTL. Having a conversation allows to deconstruct emotions and allows participants to see that the comedian is really a human being. In many ways a comedian can dictate emotions but participants take the chance of riding the emotional rollercoaster in the hopes of being entertained. I like these insights!
