I present a crossover no one asked for but I couldn't get out of my head, in honor of ATLA being brought to Netflix.

Honestly, this song fits Zuko (and he’s more justified) than Cass. Cassandra wasn’t denied anything. She had a loving father who made sure she was taken care of and happy, letting her learn swordplay despite his desire to keep her safe. Zuko on the other hand, was denied. His place in his family, the knowledge of what Iroh was actually doing, unconditional love, he was denied all of this. So yeah, this song works better for Zuko than for Cassandra. Fight me.

I don't like this at all iroh isn't condescending he is sincere and he has literally been with zuko through all his strife. I like the idea of the song placement cannonically but I'd rather go with a song about Lies given how important the phrase 'azula always lies' is and how iroh telling him when she offers him is not for zuko. Ultimately leading up to Zukos decision to fight with azula for his honor and iroh revealing the biggest lie that he was never on the side of the fire nations war. Although I think it wouldn't be appropriate to explicitly say that but show it and allow the real meaning to come later in the musical when zuko apologizes to iroh. It would be so monumental a realization it would be instant tears for the whole audience even in the overwhelming happiness of iroh finally hugging zuko. Also I definitely think aang should be a part of the tune and somehow use the theme of lies to realize that he is lying to himself that he can avoid letting Katara go and being the avatar.

Those are some really great themes that i agree would be really well explored in a dedicated musical! Lies are really integral to Zuko's journey, which is why I liked this song for him. In the show the song is from, Cass is shown to be fairly mistaken about Rapunzel being condescending, since she's just overcome with bitterness.
