We finally made it to Canada! After all of this time so close to the border, we finally got our tests back in time and drove across with our dog. We wanted to show you the experience of crossing the border from the U.S. to Canada with our dog and the surprises we had.

Bringing your dog or cat to Canada is relatively easy, I was surprised the Hilton was pet friendly

Very informative thanks for sharing, I have a question, does the dog need to be in his own sit/chair when crossing? Or can he sit on a lap? Asking for info because we’re thinking of visiting Canada soon with our pup. TIA PS: you can tell I’m nervous with bringing our pup since I already saw your video and commented before.

I didn't see anything on the Canada website about a seat. We've been back and forth with him about 4 times now. Our dog is too big for laps and was just in the back seat. Hope you have a great trip!

They haven't said anything all three times. We had the rabies paperwork just in case but nothing.

@@theemptynestprojects I take my dog back and forth across the border all of the time. Sometimes the Canadian officers ask for it other times they don’t. Either way, as long as you have it on you, you should be good. US does not require it for returning.

I've never flown but I guess you'd have to also look at the airline requirements.

hello we are planning on taking our dogs to Canada. Please help understand the rabies certificate. Is my vets certificate good enough or do I need to get a special form . Does the certificate need to be dated within certain number of days of visiting Canada?

We just used what our vet gave us. It shows the date of vaccination and when the next is due. But after 5-6 visits, no one has looked at it.

Random question, 2 years later. If my partner and I bring our 3 dogs over in 1 vehicle, do you know if that's okay? Everything says you're allowed to bring 2 dogs, but I'm wondering if 3 is okay since there would be 2 people.

I'm not sure, but I do there's a change coming in August to the border. I haven't read them yet but I've heard they are coming. I would check the new set of rules if you're going then.

Hi, doesn't your dog have to be in a kennel? I live in canada, I'm looking to bring my dog who live in the Us, it seems easier by ground than airplane, the cost in airplane is so expensive, thanks for sharing your experience.

There was no requirement for a kennel. Canada does have a rule about not bringing open packages of dog food across the border. And we had to have our rabies records. But no one has ever asked to see it. 🤷‍♀️

Just out of curiosity did the boarder agents say anything to you about dog. The reason I am asking is because I am planning a trip through Canada to Alaska. I am just wondering because I really don’t want to get turned away at the boarder for any reason.

That day and multiple crossings since, they've said absolutely nothing. We always bring our paperwork but nothing!
