Hey Hutchinson Family here 👋🏼 a few of our subscribers have highlighted this video to us as we seem to be a key part…. Not sure why! From the horses mouth: we have never been paid by any company or organisation in China to make videos about China and I sincerely hope this video is not implying otherwise or it will be taken very seriously. Our 2 trips to China this year have been completely self funded by us and it’s wrong to suggest otherwise. We do have a Chinese company managing our platforms in China in terms of translation and posting etc and due to the success of our platforms we have done brand deals with big Chinese companies just like we also do on our western platforms with western companies. We have travelled to and made content in 10 countries this year alone and China is just one of them so suggesting that our audience is just Chinese is also wrong, we have gathered subscribers from all over the world and we are so thankful for all of them. I hope this clears things up and in future it might be best not to speak about people without knowing any truth about them, certainly an innocent family with young children as you have in this case.

I reached out to them via their public email and received no response. That’s fine, they aren’t obligated to respond to me. As public figures they certainly are aware that people will comment on or critique their content. Literally only “reported” what the MCN told me (which the MCN shouldn’t have done imo)… and then the comment here from the Hutchinson family confirmed the information in my video so seems the info is accurate… for some reason the Hutchinson family took it extremely defensively unless I’m reading their comment wrong, even though I said there is no problem in my opinion with having an MCN. It is literally just an agent helping with post production and traffic and sponsors. That’s normal business in every country. Wild that people would think this is a gotcha or negative thing but hey, everyone is entitled to their opinion.

Opinions matter, good or bad ones, especially with how information is spread with nowadays' social media all that. While it may be futile or a waste of time trying to change the mind of those who are most entrenched in certain idea or pretending to be asleep, you can certainly help those who may be otherwise on their way to become entrenched or those who may use your information in a genuine conversation, if ever there's one. A Bertrand Russell quote comes to mind ‘The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.’ And if I may add "loud vs quiet".

As a China-based content creator I can confirm everything Eric says is true. I work without an MCN, but I often cooperate with local governments for the tourism marketing. I do apply self censorship on certain details in my content, but it is simply because I don't feel I want to spread unconfirmed rumors or over-emphasize on flaws of the country I live in and love.

@@Eric_Garrison I do content in Russian for KZbin and in Chinese for the local social medias like douyin etc. I don’t find MCN cooperation mode sustainable for the long-term self brand building. Also I look into blogging as an escape from the corporate worlds and all the MCN stuff is too much structured for me. I monetize on live-streams selling Russian food to Chinese on Chinese platforms and here on KZbin I do advertising for my partner selling Chinese goods to Russia.

Most of the people saying "paid by CCP" are typically US government contractors. The irony is that they are the ones being paid, but by the US government or related entities, not by China. I know this for a fact as I personally know people involved in this very real business. What any smart, critically minded person would quickly understand is that the Chinese government (or any government for that matter) wouldn't pay top dollar to a person with barely 25,000 followers (no offence, Eric) to promote their country. Usually, the tourism organisation/department/ministry in just about every nation on earth handles the nation's travel "propaganda" / publicity and they tend to work with huge influencers and media companies, not with small channels on social media.

I appreciate your video, I have my criticisms of china but i also love chinese culture and its many beautiful cities. I think channels like serpentza are right in their critisicm, but i also find it sad the online sphere has become either full against or in full support of china and only shows the propaganda. I like that your videos can show some of the real sides of china. I was a bit worried when i first clicked on your channel because it seemed like many of those propaganda channels, especially with all the NIO stuff (i assume you do get paid by them). But upon further inspection i think you're a good guy and this video does confirm that to me. Im glad you stay away from the propaganda but still show what china is like.

1. CCP reminds people of CCCP. 2. The term "Chinese Communist Party" doesn't really define place; "Communist Party of China" actually gives a clear answer to that. For example, If a group of ethnically chinese people living in Malasya/Singapore/Thailand/etc actually made a communist party, would they also be by definition "chinese communist parties"? 3. Calling them CCP when they officially ask you to call them CPC is actually a condescending and demeaning behaviour; they ask you to be correct about the fact that the communist party is from CHINA (CPC), and it's not "some random chinese political party around there".
