I have wanted to show you this new barn for so long! And it's not just a barn, the upstairs is "MUST SEE" Carriage House that is to die for. Tag along as we meet the horses, check out the upstairs living quarters, and of course, peek at the beautiful landscaping.

Jack what a beautiful barn! OMG! Thanks to the wonderful owner of the property for allowing you to do all these awesome tours...Crossroads is my dream!!!!! I got my daughter to watch the first video and the first thing out of her mouth when she saw that beautiful Victorian house was "Momma that is your dream home down to the color" lol...my baby girl knows me...lol. Would these wonderful homeowners allow you to video tour the interior of this absolutely gorgeous Victorian home? I would love to see the interior. My mind is drooling over the thought of old hardwood floors, tall ceilings, bead board everywhere and lace curtains floating in the island breezes. Just a thought and figured it wouldn't hurt to ask. How blessed you are Jack to landscape these beautiful old homes and how blessed are these lucky homeowners to have you to accessorize these grand homes with beautiful plants. God bless

As a horse owner, I'd like to share that gravel often causes stone bruising, especially if gravel is sharp and any size, often worse with a moderate to large size, so be careful . I've experienced this as I have gravel driveways. So we learned to keep them off of it. There is a shredded rubber product you could use instead. Or fine sand... like for arenas. Feet should be inspected ev. nite for stones. Stone bruises leads to abscesses. I know no chemicals are put on grass paddock.

I was thinking the same thing, I couldn’t believe they would put gravel in their paddock! 😱 let the horses on the grass Jack!!!

I am also a horse owner, former U.S.E.F. Dressage Judge, Hunter Horse of The Year, Field Master of large Fox Hunt. But, more importantly, I am a former D C. of Pony Club. These horses are shod for road work ( pads. , etc. ) and so are protected. Also, gravel is a very good footing around a barn or entrance around a fence gate or around a water throughs . The gravel selected would be smooth and have rounded edges. Without pads, this is a good idea to enhance the raised sole and transfer to the. weight bearing wall. ( eliminates abscesses). I’m sure owners had EXPERT ADVICE AND HORSES ARE ONLY THERE DURING THE SUMMER MONTHS..., shipped to south for their total winter turn out. NO ONE WOULD EVER USE 😫“sharp gravel”!!!

❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ That is a stunning area. Your work, as always, is perfection. The Carriage house and barn are fabulous! Actually, it's dreamy!!! Thank you and the owners, so much, for sharing their amazing space with us. Words cannot express what "all that beauty" caused me to feel in my heart. It helped lift it and that's been difficult for the last few days. God bless you and your crew and this dear family for sharing this with us. You're simply the best, Jack!

In the south it’s called Haint Blue and they paint the porch ceilings that color to keep spirits away. Thanks to the owners for letting us see the beautiful barn and horses (you missed the white one). I do love the smell and sound of the horses though!

Never heard about spirits… that’s a strange one! I’ve heard they paint porch ceilings that color to scare bugs and mosquitoes away. They’re supposed to think a bird can come out of the “sky” and eat them. Obviously it’s so you can hang out on your porch free of mosquitoes!

I live and was raised in the south, in Georgia and never heard that lol. What I was always told was that painting the porch ceiling a light blue was to keep birds away from building nests etc.... That sounds more like Louisana in how they talk about ghosts and other superstitions. ☺

Alabama here. Haunt Blue is what I have always heard it called. Keeps wasps from nesting and keeps spirits (or "haints") away.

What a lovely tour! I’ve spent 20+ years visiting the island every summer and little did I know it was you Jack who had a hand in all the beautiful flowers on the island. I enjoy your videos so much. It’s been a few years and I need to get back there. Would love an update when the porch railing is installed. A big Thanks to the owners for allowing us a tour💕

Thank you, Jack. that was indeed a treat. I like how you brought attention to the details such as the tissue nose box holder in the first bathroom, the integrated fridge in the kitchen and the 'est. 2020' tiling on the bathroom floor. Those horses are just adorable, especially Roxy. May I request that there is no background music when you are talking. It is distracting. Not a criticism, just a suggestion. Love from sunny Sydney, Australia.

Oh Jack what a treat! That place is simply gorgeous. I can only imagine what the actual home looks like. Please thank the owners for allowing us a peek inside this beautiful place. Those horses have a wonderful home. Maybe we can see inside a home on The Island in an upcoming video. That would be so awesome for those of us that have never been there. Are you planning to do any update videos on the landscapes that you put in so we can see the flowers and plants in their summer glory? Maybe a walking tour of town would be great. Thank you Jack for taking the time to tour this gorgeous space with us. You are the best! 💕☀️🌻🦋🐝🐴

The monarch's were just passing through at that time, making it even more beautiful. I love hearing the horses trotting by. Thanks for the wonderful tour! and thanks to the lucky owner's.

Welcome back Jack @jackbarnwell. Hope everyone in your family is well and in good spirits. Remember in a few videos back when you invited us to ask you about anything. Well, after doing some dreaming and gaining inspiration from you and some other favorite YT gardeners, I’ve decided to retool (really re-architect) two long garden beds in my parents backyard. The thought is that one day I might own this house. And if I don’t perhaps these flirty ideas of mine will coalesce into a higher dollar sale of the house when the time comes. So my questions are two- fold. You did this beautiful terracing of stairs in the surprise video for your buddy earlier this summer. I’m so impressed with that work. I too have three slopes that are super frustrating in the backyard. I want to create some terraces where I can either use them as planters in between steps OR to snake some mini terraces throughout the beds to be able to walk through - maybe with landings at the top where I can put containers. 1) Would I start stacking from the bottom or the top? Before you laugh at my question I’m thinking first I’d have to mound some dirt against the area where the terraced stairs would be inserted. So do I insert the slates from the top or bottom? 2) How do I secure them? Bonus question 3) What are your thoughts about landscapes selling the house? If I did sell the house, would it be a good return on investment? Thank you for sharing any advice. PS. I’m in zone 8a with lots of clay soil and a creek behind my house.
