Pretty excellent way to capture this mall in the final days. The true cassette recording captures the mall in a way that modern cameras can't. It really feels like a 1990's/early 2000's view of the mall.

the video camera gives you the true essence of this mall back in the day, why do we care so much of having the best quality images/screens now? I dont know. We had bouncy grainy images back then we truly enjoyed and had so much fun making them. lovely episode.

Crossroads will ALWAYS have such a special place in my heart. From hours spent in the arcade playing glow mini golf, to random days of spending too much money. This mall was iconic

Merry Christmas North! Man this is so sad. I was born in 1976 and grew up in NJ. I remember between Thanksgiving and Christmas, it was so cold. I remember walking into the malls near me and it was warm and inviting. It was decorated beautifully for Christmas with lots of shoppers. This is so sad to me. Besides Christmas, the mall was where you shopped for most things. I bought my husband a frame from Things Remembered for his college graduation back in 1997. I had it engraved with his graduation date. I have so many memories of malls.

My step dad was born in raised here in Iowa, when I asked him about what crossroads mall was like back then, he always said the Crossroads mall was always very packed! Now it’s tragic to see this iconic building once thriving be demolished.

I’ve been rocking the JCPennwy vhs full size camcorder in some of my vids. It’s fun! People freak out and ask me if that’s a real camcorder when they see me in the malls and I also did the bucees in Florence SC. I’m just using an adapter cable from my vcr to usb in my MacBook and QuickTime recording. Very easy transfer. Keep posting in this format!!! It looks awesome!

This is a great tribute and a final Christmas tour. It's sad to see it go, but I'm glad the city has a plan. It would be awful for this mall to turn into the disaster that the old Rath packing building has become. It's better to just finish it off than let it rot away, getting looted and vandalized. Another great video from NorthCdogg with the retro pics from better days. Yep, another 90s or early 2000s remodel with those hospital like sterile pastel colors and public restroom style flooring. I’m not talking about the center court star designs but the regular walkway flooring. It’s rare to find a dying or dead mall that hasn’t been defiled by a 90s or early 2000s remodel. There were some good things about the 90s like the economy, but the mall remodels wasn’t one of them.

The death of malls is something I would never have believed could be a real thing, if you asked me in like 1997. But, I suppose the closures of arcades like "SpacePort" should have told me better. And KayBee toy stores, too...

Sweet Hi-8 old school. Glad that Mall Blart wasn't there I don't get why they don't want Crossroads Mall in IA to be taped since there isn't any stores anymore at the place I had a feeling that it was going to shutter when AtHome and Bath & Body Works left Crossroad. Free the bears and Santa along with the palm trees and the Sam Goody titles as well. Be a great site for the dead mall museum. Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, & New Year North did College Square Mall go all out for Christmas LOL 😂.

Why open for Christmas ?? There are no shops or stores open they are all empty out ?? . Pointless . But you said it’s getting demolished in 2025. I guess it no longer is desirable and doesn’t draw shoppers in anymore .
