We are a process of body and mind - physical and mental phenomena. And we have to keep recharging this process in the same way that we have to recharge our cell phones. Consciousness is a part of this process. You can see a video on the 5 aggregates, or factors which create our daily experiences. When we die, the body-mind process simply shuts down; it stops working. There is no more consciousness, no thinking, no memory, no self or ego-center. We are composed of the six elements - earth, water, heat, air, space and consciousness. After death, these elements return to Nature. At a deeper level, there are atoms, otherwise known as Cosmic Energy since everything is composed of atoms. Energy cannot be created or destroyed; it can change its form and it can move from one place to another. So, on this profound level of reflection and calmness, one is able to go beyond the idea of birth and death. We are actually aspects of the Universe, in this temporary physical form, being aware of itself, experiencing itself. There is Cosmic Consciousness and awakening from the illusion of duality and separation. No worry, no fear. There is compassion and peace. Be well, be happy.
