Hi Chris, Fantastic video! I just bought these NanoStation locoM5s, for my in-laws, who live in the country. We are now able to send internet from the main house to the barn/shop, some 50 yards aways! I also placed a small NetGear router and gave them wi-fi! This was my first time doing these long antenna wi-fi devices and I'm blown away at how great they work! Many thanks!

How did you configure the remote router (is it also WIFI AP) to redistribute the signal to local clients in the guest building? Do you assign it a static IP or allow it to receive an IP under DHCP? does it need to mirror the SSID of the source network or have its own SSID? any other config settings? thanks

Our Ham radio club uses the Nanostation AC's on Field day to log remote stations 150 yards away to a central server logging station and they work beautifully with POE injectors and a 100gabit router.

Hi Chris - I have learned so much from your videos. Thank you. I just successfully created a NS M5 Wireless Bridge. So excited. I need to get WiFi to the front gate of my property, no electricity there, which is 3/4 of a mile with a clear line of sight from my house. First step tested. Next an access point. Then a solar setup (those videos were great too). I think that this all might do the trick. Also, giving up on my current router. Have Ubiquity equipment on the way so that I can setup and manage a wireless mesh. Thanks again. Scott.

Your videos have been invaluable to me as someone who is new to the Ubiquiti line of products. I had been running Apple Airport networks for the last 8 years upgrading their products along the way. They worked fine until they didn't. Once I started getting all of "the internet of things" devices online, the network just started to fall flat on its face. As of two weeks ago, I'd never heard of Ubiquiti. Now I'm running a Unifi AC AP Pro, EdgeRouter POE-5, Unifi Switch 8-150W, and a NanoStation M5 Loco.

Exactly! Haha! Instead though, I hooked them up on tripods in my clients living room rather than outside to setup and demonstrate. Their outhouse was about 1/2 mile away, no LOS obstructions. It was a great day!

For users totally new to this like me, if you notice a very low "airMax Capacity", you may want to look at the video mentioned which describes how to use "AirView" to locate a better wifi channel. By changing my channel, I was able to go from airMax Capacity 20% to 40%.

Aloha Chris. Thanks for the video. I can get to the login screen of the M5, but when I put in the credentials, country, click the acknowledgement checkbox, and click the login button, the browser times out with an error that the address can't be reached. Any attempt to access the login page again fails unless the Nanostation is reset. I've tried this on Windows 10 with three different browsers (Firefox, Chrome, and Opera), with and with virus software (Avast) and Windows firewall, as well as on Ubuntu with Firefox. It's driving me nuts. Any ideas?

Hi. Great video. I’m in process of starting a security camera project that will require 25 IP cameras in a residential complex. The complex contain 15-17 buildings and there are trees in between the buildings. We’re planning to install a pole that is atleast 15-20 ft tall for the antennas. We were originally planning to install the ubiquiti Ns-5ac but after watching the video makes me want to change the design. What do you suggest? The cameras will be connected to a standard poe switch and up linked to the antenna on the roof. Would the m5 work? The main clubhouse where we will making it the primary location is located on one side and we want all the antennas to connect back to the clubhouse. Please let me know your professional opinion on this! Thank you

In lieu of these point to point wireless videos, can I request a short video describing the differences between all the "Airmax" products? Ubiquity's product page has a total of 30 "Airmax" branded devices. Obviously some are point to multi-point and some point to point but what about the other 20 devices? They seem a bit redundant with some of their offerings. Thanks for these videos!

Yup, same here. Trying to choose a pair to span 1.25 miles, from what I gather 2.4 GHz can travel further and through a couple tree tops? Goal is to get IP cameras at a remote location.

With the help of this video I connected two sites which are in Ariel Distance 14KM apart. The throughput was not so good so I replaced the devices with Nanostation Powerbeam and everything is smooth. :) Thank you..

+brijendra singh yadav Don't worry, Powerbeam would do. I am connecting two sites despite a high hill in between. And the signal is below 60dBm as well and the RX/TX is somewhat like 30Mbps. Please let me know if there's anything that I can help you with

+Anthoni Regis If you are using M2 to connect sites which are 500 meters apart then you better don't use it. Though in an ideal environment, it can go upto 1km as well. But, you are more likely to encounter interference. So, go for M5. You would get a solid connectivity. I have once connected 25km using M5 and still got 5 Mpbs throughput. HTH

You will probably not have great luck trying to penetrate walls with a wireless bridge. If possible - get up onto the roof to get clear line of sight.

Have you had any issues with the system dropping WiFi? I’ve had this setup for a couple yrs now, your vid was awesome for helping me install. My WiFi in the house is always spot on, I’m slinging to my shop about 500 feet away. Had a Netgear Nighthawk router in shop that seemed to be dropping WiFi and had to be reset often, got a new Asus router and seems to be having similar issue today after being great for a couple weeks. Maybe my outside receiver antenna ? Sorry so long...

Great videos!!!! I've used Ubiquiti since they first started offering consumer grade AP's(2004-2005)? And for the most part, they are fantastic.(Seem to get better after the years) I've had a P2P setup on a site a couple years back, but this is my actual first go a setting up a P2P bridge myself, using two Nano M2's. I've seen a couple of tutorials that lead you to turn off UBNT's AirMax proprietary protocol. And it has me wondering if, by doing that, not only would you have the P2P bridge, but would also shower that area in between Nano's, with a "WiFi" signal that could be used by mobiles? I ask because my remote location is a full metal "shop" and my interior AP in the metal shop isn't going to do much good between the locations(only 300') .... I wonder if things such as mobile and VOIP phones can stay connected when walking from site to site? Thanks again!!!!

Hello Chris! I like your videos, they are awesome, good explaining for Ubiquiti products. I have a question about Loco M2. It really annoys me the fact that i have good signal at the wi-fi router that i want to connect to, but i don't have the button to select it. Any suggestions? Other wi-fi signals that i pick, even with a lower signal that mine, i get the button to select them on the scan list, but not mine, and 2-3 other networks as well. Thank you in advance! I'm learning as i go, please sorry for my English and explanation of the problem.

Hey Chris, I have two Nanobeam AC's coming in the mail tomorrow and after watching your video I know it will be a breeze to setup! I do have a couple questions though. The Nanobeam's each come with a POE injector and the units themselves only have one ethernet port. So, after everything is configured, should I still be using the POE injectors on both the Access Point and the Station? I'm guessing it depends on how much power your switch or router has on whether or not you would need them? Would it hurt to use the POE injector if it wasn't needed? Thanks!

I followed another tutorial as they were using the exact model. I did everything as shown in the tutorial however i am not getting any internet at my second site. Also i want to add a switch at site 2. I have a Netgear Wireless G router model WGR614v9. Do I use the wan/internet port or disregard this altogether please?
