Best way to fix a Harley is to jack up the ignition key and replace the bike under it with a DR650! Might be an old video, but still spot-on and an absolute favourite. I've started replacing bits of my spine with metal and plastic so I can still ride, and it's working well so far! The way my lower back feels at the moment, the stage 2 kit may include a broom handle from Bunnings...
@crosstrainingenduro3 жыл бұрын
🤣 Yeah, Dave... I reckon there's a pile of bikes that could be improved by sliding a single cylinder Japanese bike under the ignition key! Hope the broom stick works well, I could probably use one as after the spin fracture I have to focus on keeping my back very straight to last two hours on the bike.
@Desert100753 жыл бұрын
If you are new to riding, start slow, go slow until you are use to what's happening. Then gradually practice technical riding. Steep uphills and downhills, mud sand rocks mild wheelies to clear logs. Stand up, elbows out to balance better. Standing up let's the bike rock under you as you hit bumps. If you're riding on dirt sitting down, when the bump hits your back wheel your torseau will go flying up and sometimes the bike will throw you over the bars. So stand over bumps. Even if you only lift your self three inches off of the seat it works.
@crosstrainingenduro3 жыл бұрын
Good advice! In the very early stages a new rider will be sitting the whole time but we encourage them to stand as soon as they can, and as often as they can, until they actually feel more confident standing than sitting. kzbin.info/www/bejne/oJvak3uYZZiBraM

I can't wait to get my suspension back for my 450. I have a strong feeling I will spend a lot of time on this bike. It's a great fit and I am very comfortable with how it handles. I can't wait to see how a suspension upgrade will help me ride way better. I spent 15 years of my life serving in the US military and I lost time exploring new hobbies and other fun stuff. I'm now making up for that lost time and have fun! I'm totally disabled from military service but I'm not letting that stop me from being on a dirt bike. @ashleywevv35833 жыл бұрын
Rode it stock for the first 1000kms then bring it on. Nearly all the mods from the DR build series. Note to all :- when fitting FFRC suspension don't just do the front and then launch your bike over the nearest jump. The landing is yes "very comical" but ultimately terrifying as your butt shoots into the air with the under dampened rear shock absorber !!!! Thanks again Barry
@crosstrainingenduro3 жыл бұрын
Interesting to hear! On my latest bike I've only done the forks. All I did with the rear shock was maximum preload and damping adjustments. So far it's working out well but I haven't done any jumps yet....
@ashleywevv35833 жыл бұрын
To be fair I am reflecting on the first couple of rides through mt Mee state forest where I launched it over some of the council's erosion cuttings and as an under achiever my landings wouldn't have been exactly textbook. With the rear shock set and re-valved just makes the bike so much more planted everywhere. It's just that happened to me. The preload was wound up about 5mm from factory and I think the dampening was all the way in. Keen to see how you get on Cheers Ashley

It's an oldie but a goody, Dam! it got 1.3 million views over on the adventure channel but obviously pissed off a lot of Harley and cruiser riders as I was poking fun at a few buddies lol. I had no idea it would become such a popular vid.

Loved the religious disclaimer. So funny. I have seen a few bible texts that imply interstellar travel. Perhaps one would be less concerned with biking if we could legit super man from planet to planet. No. Would still want a bike. Maybe there is a whole planet out there dedicated to Moto.

I was thinking of a vid that speculated on what dirt riding would be like in the afterlife for each religion, Ash. But I'd probably get a fatwa issued against me lol.

I have a precious little Italian princess pony... Its a TM300. By comparison my previous bike, a Beta300 was an Italian prostitute but I love them both. And why do people order lattes? 3mm of foam is the difference between a latte and a flat white, not that it makes a difference in a takeaway cup.
@crosstrainingenduro3 жыл бұрын
Interesting... I just rode a TM300 for the first time yesteday, Rupert! One of our guys just bought one. How do you think it compares to the RR300?
@1Beetlegeuse3 жыл бұрын
@@crosstrainingenduro The Beta already had 120 hours on it when I bought it so not sure what a new one is like. Both exceed my abilities substantially. TM is a bit taller and sits a bit more neutral. I'm 105kg with gear but even after I put a 6.2 spring in the Beta it seemed to always squat a fair bit. TM goes like an absolute rocket but still lugs as well if not better than the Beta. That was my main concern, thought the TM might be peaky but while it can get on the pipe and scream its tits off its still a fantastic tractor on the snotty stuff probably due to the very high compression. Very smooth engine, no vibration like the Beta however it was a 17 model with no counterbalancer so not sure about current models. I'd never ridden one and bought it from Melbourne and had it shipped up to Sydney. Heart said TM, brain said Rieju. I really dont think you can go wrong either way. I've added an AXP nylon skid/linkage plate, bark busters, tubliss in the rear, the Clake pro that came with my old Beta. I rerouted a couple lines off the carb into the airbox and changed jetting as it was way to rich in the bottom end. Haven't even touch the clickers yet but seems fine where it is. I really think its meant to run race fuel though because of the compression. Previous issues on older models seem to revolve around our shitty quality pump fuel so I bought a 50lt drum of ELF102 for $200. $30 for fuel for a day out really isnt a big deal. Aside from hooning around the neighborhood I've only had one decent day out on it because of lockdown though so time will tell how it goes but very happy with it. When cleaning it or pulling the plastics and having a good look around it though its easy to see where your money has gone. Build quality/welding/components are top notch. How did you and your mate like it?

Thanks for the info! I just had a 10 min ride yesterday and was impressed... as was my buddy. We both took it very easy though as he has no protective gear on it yet. Full test coming soon though. 😁
