Excellent panel discussion! It was quite insightful and clearly showed the vast amount of experience panel members have amassed through their respective tenures in foreign affairs. International geopolitics is indeed quite interesting and complicated - there are so many variables at play and in the engineering lingo “there is no closed-form solution to the partial differential equation that governs this world”. And as always, Palki Ma’am was wonderful with her sharp-witted questions that shows her own deep understanding on this subject. Huge fan of her journalistic style!

From the literature available one can conclude that Nehru was not in mood of listening to anyone against China. Even then Army Chief Themmaya warned Nehru on Chinese development across borders and Tibet. Bht he overpowered him and Krishna Menon was asked to take over. We all have seen ehat mess it made in 1962.

Leaders need to make an immature system into a mature one by their power and politics. Nehru's failure is lack of faith and confidence in himself and others which led current legacy problem. We have to learn from our historical mistakes.

Because Nehru knew that those were Chinese territories and China would take them back sooner or later, but Modi was confused.

Educated people always have phobia. Like he said 95% of vitamin C coming from china same with electronic. But still china also making money out of this trade and they too don't want to loose this market. Secondly larger countries like India since in present setup the needs are met arrangement are honoured. If china realty stops such trade India will surely go for its own sources. When cryogenic engine was denied to India, ISRO made it their own Isn't?

Strength of China is it is autocratic government. Industrial growth doesn't happen without pollution. And in democracy environment activities can either oppose such industrial growth or corrective measures to this pollution can increase the cost of product. Therefore many industries shited to china from America snd Europe. Nixon Kissinger found this strength and they want to use china as their allies against then Soviet union. This strength of China can not be possible in democratic country. Bring real democracy in China. All economics will fail. And US knows that very well

Iñ essence India capitulated to China. There was nothing strategic about this decesion, Indian leadership was quite novice to international politics of the time,

I agree. I think the talks should be in Hinglish - a mix of both Hindi and English so it could be more tailored for this channel’s target audience. If not then, Hindi subtitles can be provided. Since this talk happened just yesterday, I guess putting subtitles might have delayed the uploading.

@@OrangeDuritowell I would prefer optional Hindi subtitles as mixing Hindi would make it difficult for people who don't know Hindi to follow

Is this book targeted to the Hindi speaking world only? Why Hindi? What about Tamil, telegu or any other language? Aren't you aware that there are 22 scheduled languages? There's no concept of national language in this country. Ignorants like yourself think that Hindi is national language because the govt speaks it. The govt speaks Hindi because it's an official language not national. English is another official language. This gathering is not official one. So no need to speak Hindi. As for English? It's the middle ground. A neutral language. Can be targeted to all..inter or intra. Pata nahi kaha se chale aate hai...😂 Hindi Hindi..karke

It has become customary to say “Nehru was a leader with great strategic vision”. The fact is he had anything but vision. This man was an monumental disaster. Every problem India faces is his creation starting from Indus water treaty, Nehru Liaqat accord(CAA), Security council, Tibet, 1962 debacle, First vote rigging in Rampur, Genocide in Pune, banning films and books and license Raj. It is difficult to point out anything positive he did. Nepotism at its worst was practiced by him. Nehru’s incompetent friend Krishna Menon after being kicked out of UK became defense minister, Vijay Laxmi Pandit whose only qualification was she spoke English became our Henry Kissinge, Kaul made sure we loose 62 war and KM Panicker was our George Kennan. Nehru thought he owns this country and Indians should feel obliged to him. What have we done to take land back from China. We continue to loose land even now under great leadership of jumlebaaz. Mr Menon is trying to assert that changes in neighborhood is something that happens with time. He is wrong we have lost neighbors because of inept and stupid leadership. US failed to stick to Monroe doctrine because of rudderless leadership and fighting wrong wars that gave China space and day is not far when they will have PLA in Cuba.Mr Menon trying to justify incompetence. We are a country with low quality humanmaterial where people elect leaders like pappu, lalu, Mamta, Kejri etc. Present govt is only marginally better. There is total breakdown of law and order, even after 10 years we cannot manufacture paracetamol and Vit C. All he does passes bills due to majority and implements nothing. We are importing API from China. All we have achieved we manufacture fake medicines with impunity. PM is busy with babagiri which is his only job now. This man has destroyed Uttarakhand and now becoming environmental and ecological disaster in Ladakh. Only positive is Yogi and Gadkari. We should have somebody knowledgeable on China like Gowrie Dwivedi as moderator especially when you have a person like Mr Gokhale as your guest.

Our neighbours have been taking out help but always side with China. Srilanka, Nepal and bangladesh in that order. But the Nepalese is what I'm worried about, yes they are Hindus but the chinese are Buddhist, many of them. The Nepalese come and go from India to nepal unhindered, as if citizenship doesn't matter. How many are Indian and are all Nepalese? Why are we not putting visa control? Some of yhem are diehard communist and inder chinese influence and pay?
