A good tip if you are seeking a particular weapon. The weapon is determined when the ghost soldier renders. If you know where the weapon can spawn, and you save a few steps out of render distance, you can reload to reroll what type of weapon it is, then save right next to it before grabbing it to determine what modifier it gets. I did this with the Gerudo Claymore, but didn’t have enough EXP for it to get any modifier. This means the sensor will not pick up on what the weapon is until the ghost renders, because it doesn’t exist yet(confirmed with said claymore)
@edwardnedharvey8019 Жыл бұрын
I do this regularly. I'm surprised @Croton didn't mention it.
@thestarlightrepose Жыл бұрын
I noticed Croton seemed to imply that once a ghost gives you a weapon type, that the same ghost will always give the same weapon type from then on. Example: a ghost gives a 1 hand sword = that ghost will always give a 1 hand sword But, doing the save before render to get the weapon type you want suggests that the ghosts could offer any weapon type after a blood moon instead of being locked into one specific type. Unless that ghost becomes locked to the type once you pick up it’s weapon the first time. Anybody have experience with ghosts changing weapon types after being looted the first time?
@raarasunai4896 Жыл бұрын
@@thestarlightrepose Ah, I may have worded it poorly. The weapon type is static(always a 1 hander, 2 hander, or spear determined by which ghost it is.) Doing the save before it renders let’s you influence which weapon of that type you can get. Let’s use the Gerudo Claymore for example. You find a ghost in the depths below the Gerudo area that is holding a Traveler’s Claymore, and you saved before it rendered in. You can reload that save, approach that ghost, and it may have a different claymore, such as the desired Gerudo one. That ghost, even when it respawns from a blood moon, will never give you a spear or 1 handed weapon

Quick weapon tip: knight's weapons are unapologetically the best weapons to use in the depths. If you get yourself to 1 heart, knights weapons multiply by both the weapon damage and fusion damage. The reason why this is so good is because gloom enemies will only take away your unfilled hearts instead of dealing damage. When you get low, you can just eat a sundelion recipe to cure the gloom. By doing this, you essentially have full health in the depths, and your weapons deal double damage. There are only a few things that can hurt you (like yiga and flux constructs).

If you really want a specific pristine weapon you can manually save the game at a spot where you can see the pedestal but the ghost soldier did NOT spawn yet. Then you can keep reloading this save until you get the weapon. EDIT: If you already spawned in a ghost soldier then this weapon it spawned with STAYS there forever until you TAKE it (even a blood moon can't change that). If you have the Hero's Path unlocked you can easily see if you've already been in the proximity of a ghost soldier.

0:07 Most of the new players might think "It's just a travelers sword whatever. It already sucked it BotW. It doesn't have much damage even though it's pristine" Yes it doesn't have much damage, BUT it has durability. Which is arguably more valuable in TotK because of the fusing mechanic. The pristine travelers sword has more durability than the normal knights broadsword for example. They deal the same damage per hit, but the pristine travelers sword can swing 2 more times before breaking, which can be a lot when fused with a high attack material. TLDR Take all the pristine weapons you can get. They are way more powerful than you might think.

clicked expecting to actually find out what's different about pristine weapons (which I still don't understand) but this is just as useful
@Croton Жыл бұрын
They just deal more damage and have more durability than their decayed counterparts!!

@@Croton Alright thanks! Kinda curious about the numbers but im a decomp nerd myself so i can find those on my own, and thanks again for all the info! super cool stuff

omg this was extremely helpful!! I thought they worked like treasure chests so I was saving them!!

That's what I thought too at first!! I even pinned the ones that were good because I didn't know how they worked initially 😅

Just yesterday I went to find a pristine eightfold blade, and I prepared to reroll modifiers to get attack up, and then I got attack up +10 first try 😂 I was in shock

You can also get the non corrupted version on surface

@@Dado_nastro Only the 2 handed eightfold longblade, not to be confused with the 1 handed eightfold blade

@@Dado_nastro speaking of that, I also worked hard to get a pristine eightfold long blade, only to get one from a quest very soon after

"if you want to do a challenge run in the future" oh my i wonder who would do something like that

I just force blood moons until I get the weapons I want, really efficient btw, as well, if you are looking for guards and don’t want to look at online maps, just look for a circle with a smaller circle in it.

The trick of discarding the absolute lowest-tier weapons is super useful! This will make my Depths trips way more useful. However, apart from that, I find that in most cases, even midrange pristine weapons are so strong and durable that they perform better than higher-level weapons from the surface. I am willing to just let fate decide. (I also avoided watching or reading about this until I rolled the credits, specifically because I didn’t want to start hyper-optimizing the fun out of my playthrough.)

I noticed something strange about a pristine knight's claymore. When the soldier's ghost was holding it, I could make out the writing on it well enough to tell that it said "Hyrule [something] Power Wisdom Courage". Then I took it and dropped it and looked at the writing again, and it was a mirror image!

If you did run around and activate tons of them on accident without throwing them out, you can just save then go to a new one and load your save until you get what you want

Hey, Croton. While TOTK has been out for quite a while, and that it looks like your next video will be soon, I still want to say that BOTW modded content could be great. Like, the Dark army resurrection mod, or Second Wind, that would be awesome. I would understand if you don’t wanna do it, but it’d be great that you do that. Thanks :)
@Croton Жыл бұрын
I have done Second Wind!!! Unfortunately Nintendo has taken down a lot of my SW videos, along with my Relics of the Past ones. I don't think doing any more modding stuff is in my future for this reason :((
