Tommy Buckley worked with my son in Louisiana at a place that builds boats for the government called metal shark, ironic that’s a pretty killer name. He was very good to my son and he talked to me on the phone several times it’s amazing to hear someone tell crazy stories about Louisiana metal. Tommy can tell you stories for days and he’s a fucking amazing drummer. Check out Soilent Green. That’s just over the top swamp blues death metal

When you're the drummer for Crowbar you can tilt your snare at any angle you friggin' feel like!!! I've been drumming since I was 8....now 51. I played w/ my snare tilted FORWARD, like a jazz drummer for decades. About a year back I experimented w/ tilting the opposite direction.....though not as extreme as TB. It's a good feeling to play hard and never have to worry about unwanted rimshots.

Craig Nunenmacher played on Lifesblood. I think of all the great Crowbar drummers Jimmy Bower has the best feel for timing. I remember seeing shows around 1998 with Bower and just couldn't beleive how the whole band could bend and stretch time and at the same time be super tight with amazing feel.

In the 70’s lots of drummers had this Tom and snare positioning but they would sit the throne lower. It was to get away from the typical style of the 60’s when you sat high up and had the drums low so the audience could see you. Nicko from Maiden is a good example 🤘

@Robin Vonkorff Yeah, hate to break it to you but if "pure power" is what the aim is for you literally can't get more "power" in a snare hit than a rim shot. Dude just prefers to have it at that angle. Preference over practicality is all that is. Nothing more, nothing less. If anything it's to save some money on replacing sticks.
