I really enjoyed this look back, and would enjoy more. Your reading the rulebooks and then translating it into gameplay flow description to those of us who can't imagine gameplay from reading rulebooks is invaluable. It's on us to take that description and decide if we agree with your conclusion.

Great new series, Chris! Out of this bunch, I had backed Forests of Pangaia, Oros, and Volfyirion Guilds. I've sold Forests, as I found the game to just be OK, I think someone that likes area- based abstracts will enjoy it. Still trying to offload Volfyirion, as the box is too fricken big for what essentially is a bloated Star Realms. Oros is a great game - I like the interaction level, the actions are fun and upgrading them is meaningful, the spatial puzzle it offers is unique, and the solo mode is quite good. Wish I had backed Distilled back then, but it was still early days for me being in the hobby, and I hadn't realized yet how much I enjoy euros.

Only on episode 2 so far, but one thing I'd like to see is a comparison of how much the KS/GF cost vs the current retail price (if available). Since you rightly recommend waiting for retail so frequently, it'd be great to see how often that would save a patient backer money.

I guess these were all before I got here. If I recall correctly, I found your channel through "5 reasons not to back Moonrakers:Titan" in which I quickly ignored your advice and went all in on that and then on Slay the Spire. Ironically, those are the only two games that I backed in 2022 that have delivered. I'm still waiting on Nanolith and Barbaric, which is sad, but that's also okay because at the end of the day, I already have more board games than I know what to do with. haha.

You speak about gathering data to make an informed decision which makes me wonder; do you keep track of hard data for each crowdfunded game like campaign length, goal, whether it was funded, what percentage it was funded, when they claim they will fulfill, and when they actually deliver? Doing so would build up a track record of these various companies and people in a handy dandy spreadsheet and could be extremely helpful in making informed decisions.

I really enjoy Forests of Pangaia and I agree with your original assessment of Winterhaven Woods being non-offensive. It’s okay. I also have most of the picks for you and me. I late pledged on a bunch of them when I found your channel on roughly episode 10. Oros is great and Chronicles of Drunagor is big, heavy and cumbersome but so great and fun. I did not get Bantam West because it felt too expensive but turns out it’s cheap compared to games today. 😂 Arydia is another one I am looking forward to and I late pledged it. I’m so happy you won the contest for it back in the day. Lords of Vaala is one that I saw at the time as a great deal just as you did but chose not to back it since it didn’t seem like a game for me and I am happy I did skip on it after the reviews came out for it. Thanks for all the videos! I liked this one quite a bit and am realizing how many games I backed because of your videos so maybe I need to stop watching them! 😅

I can't believe I've been here since the first Crowdfunding Countdown. I have no life. j/k. I've enjoyed every minute of it. I backed Soul Raiders. I almost didn't. I shouldn't have. I think I'll still enjoy it when it arrives, but I have a bunch of similar games now.

Love this video, it’s hard to beat getting a recap of your recaps! I’m really keen for Soul Raiders hey, I think it’s going to be a completely reasonable sized box with a load of accessible puzzly fun inside! And you’re wrong about Earthborne, man, wake up and smell the thunderstorms! EBR is fantastic and I think anyone who loves card games and player interaction should give it a few hours of their time. Plus, I’m all for your sentiment of “vote with your wallets” and to me it’s a really important statement about game production et al

Absolutely, feel free to read through all the rulebooks yourself too! And do the additional search required by the ones that BGG decides not to promote because they don't pay for ad space!

Forests of Pangaia is one of my favourites! Villagers - meh. It's technically sound but I never have 'fun' playing it. Sanssouci is also great. You might have missed it because it was a strange campaign - more of an 'order' than a backing (Campaign closed end of June and game delivered end of August).

Its interesting to see how many games didnt deliver on time and also still havent delivered. Also, you pick some weird games. I know part of that is whats available that week, but i didnt back any of those picks. Still neat to see. Hope you keep doing these.

Still early in the video, but after official review it's been decided to correct the score. We feel that Distilled probably deserves another point, however a game that hasn't delivered 2 years past the deadline definitely scores -2 points. Sincerely, - The Main Office

Fields of Eternia is a game that's really only for He-Man fans. It's like a competitive adventure game where you'll gear up to battle your opponent's leaders. I've enjoyed my couple plays, but it's not something that's regularly hitting the table.

I think they are really trying hard to push Lords of Vaala as an epic collection or lifestyle game. Like, make it cheap and get people in then spam the expansions and bring them into the world of Dragonbond RPG books and miniatures and see if it continues to take off. I still have my copy in shrinkwrap and tried selling it since I definitely don't need it nor is it high on my priority play list, but even trying to sell it to make that money back is kinda tough cause I've been seeing it pop up on sites for sale at like $35-40 base game and it's not like the free Armies of Blood and Dreams is gonna necessarily entice someone at least for now.

I don't think that you should give yourself points for games that are not at least a 7.5 on BGG. Then your pick should have been no pick for you! :D
