I freaking love how the show hinted at just how well they knew each other, enough for them to *SPOILER* Pretend to be each other in the finale so they could save each other’s skins. I mean they have code numbered multiple rendezvous spots! They’ve been meeting up consensually for 6,000 years. There’s a relationship there alright but it’s been ambiguous for centuries because anything between them would be forbidden, with the whole Angel & Demon war being built up. They’ve gotten so close Azir has been struggling to draw a line the entire season & only broke it at the end. Stay at Crowley’s apartment, switching, & lying to heaven for 6,000 years about the sword, Crowley, & a few million reports.

Plus they did it in other small ways, too. Crowley's reaction to the use of the word "Fraternizing", how he immediately knew what Aziraphale had planned when he said he could entertain at the birthday party, his appearances right when Aziraphale would have been discorporated, his miracle to save the books in the church scene, how Aziraphale's final threat wasn't harming him because he knew he'd never be able to but saying he'd never speak to Crowley again- every damn moment between these two shows just how much they really love one another (whether you interpret that as romantic or platonic love, by someone it's love either way)

Although the word "fraternize" is used correctly, emotionally wise that word to describe a friendship sounds so cold and none of the warmth of love. To Crowley's point of view it must have felt like Aziraphale was boiling their thousands of years of genuine pure friendship to just "Well technically I'm not supposed to be friends with you, you're the enemy!" But to Crowley, Aziraphale isn't an enemy. They were never enemies. He's his best friend. Only Aziraphale brings up over and over their positions as Angel and Demon, that he CAN'T help Crowley because of their positions. Which so far in the series S1 & S2, Aziraphale took a long time to admit they do have something: their relationship as friends, lovers, whatever they are. Crowley has always been the one chasing. But I can't blame much for Aziraphale because he's very frightened about Crowley getting in trouble and destroyed, however, they weren't in front of their bosses this time. Aziraphale rarely admits they're friends in _private_ . So I imagine it hurt poor Crowley's heart to hear their friendship referred to something illegal, something so easily minimized off as "fraternize". Six thousand years of meeting together, helping each other, drinking together, and eating together to be still called "fraternizing", "the enemy" after all this time and not a "friendship"? I think I'd be a little hurt too 😅 Sorry I wrote quite a bit! I enjoy these two so much

so far we have seen the moment that Aziraphale fell for Crowley but I don't think we've ever seen the opposite yet? we see the realization in season 2 thanks to Nina, but not the moment. in the books when he has to deliver Adam to the hospital he calls Aziraphale but it's implied that they're "enemies" but in a vague "I don't like you" sort of way. Did it happen when they were working towards saving the world by raising Warlock?
