Author and magician Stephen Skinner returns to Watkins Books as he presents this brand new edition of Aleister Crowley's “BOOK FOUR (Liber ABA)”, published via Watkins Publishing.Written in the early twentieth century, the four books contained within this collection make up one of the most complete and groundbreaking works on the practice of magick ever written. They are considered to be the masterpiece of occultist, magician and philosopher Aleister Crowley and the core texts for the religion of Thelema. Their influence on alternative western thought and philosophy cannot be exaggerated.
Also known as ‘Book Four’, or Liber ABA, the four parts bring together many rituals, received texts, theorems and unequalled insights into the practice of magick, culminating in The Book of the Law, the central, sacred text dictated to Crowley by a preternatural entity. Anyone interested in yoga, ceremonial magic, esoteric thought, invocation, divination and beyond, or those looking to delve into the fascinating, playful and illuminating writings of a unique man, will find inspiration.
For the first time, one of the world’s leading experts on Western esoteric traditions and magic, Dr. Stephen Skinner, introduces the text, sharing his insights into Crowley’s take on yoga, ceremonial magick and Thelema. His long involvement with magick, both as an academic and as a practitioner, enabled Dr. Skinner to highlight the differences between the psychological and the spirit-orientated approaches to magick, and to show how that dilemma shaped Crowley’s practice and his founding of Thelema, enlightening the reader to many previously unknown connections.
This talk is introduced by Etan Ilfeld, the owner of Watkins.

Mr. Skinner, During my career as a police officer I occasionally had to deal with people professing to be witches or magicians that committed criminal activities, quite often using children. Desiring to better understand the deviant behavior we had been dealing with I began reading about Wicca, Magick, and other occult subjects. I quickly realized that the individuals we had been dealing with really knew nothing about what they pretended to be, and used just enough knowledge to play out their perversions and control others. The more books I read by popular occult authors and publishers the more I enjoyed. I was introduced to your books through Llewellyn Publications. I am retired now. I really enjoyed reading them until I was partially blinded in an accident. I've had numerous eye surgeries in attempts to regain my vision to no avail, but I still read as much as I can when I am able. I use a magnifying glass now. It's a bit of a strain and goes a lot slower but I'm not going to be discouraged to the point of stopping. Keep up the excellent work. Thank you.

He changed it? But it was so intricately written. Flaws are necessary in Crowley's stuff - they are always on purpose - Can't believe a person who isn't a magician could be above it all Oh, I forgot the world I live in , yeah its possible - they edit Twain books, back then and now. First ones to edit did it on "the confessions"

When i was young, an entity would bully me every day. One day I got tired of being bullied, so i stood my ground, We came to an agreement that I wanted to stop being weak, i wanted success and power and that I would be the vessel as long as I was given free will. It happened. Many interesting things had unfolded in my life including the learning the secrets of the occult through many astral projections and interactions with my familiar and other magik users. One day i decided to walk my own path and reject the pact I had made years earlier. I lost everything.... Ended up begging at churches for food and clothing, dispised the congregations but found my own path in Christ. I have no regrets, my life is now as it should be i suppose.

OTO didn't deceide they owned Crowley, it was the other way around. OTO, a German illuminati organistion, contacted Crowley because of a passage in one of his books and claimed that Crowley had published & revealed their "secret" - this lead to they made Crowley the leader of OTO in English speaking countries. He revised their rituals and made them much more streamlined towards his GD training and Liber Al. OTO decided that Crowley was later the OHO of the order and gave him the responsibility to see to that OTO survived and thrived. Something he surely did. Stephen you clearly know a lot, but please do not spread misinformation.

Questioner: Aleister Crowley wrote _“Do what thou wilt is the whole of the law.”_ He was obviously in understanding, to some extent, of the Law of One. Where is this entity now? _Ra: I am Ra. This entity is within your inner planes. This entity is in an healing process._ 18.11 ▶ Questioner: Did this entity, then, even though he intellectually understood the Law of One, misuse it and therefore have to go through this healing process? _Ra: I am Ra. This entity became, may we use the vibration sound complex, overstimulated with the true nature of things. This over-stimulation resulted in behavior that was beyond the conscious control of the entity. The entity thus, in many attempts to go through the process of balancing, as we have described the various energy centers beginning with the red ray and moving upwards, became somewhat overly impressed or caught up in this process and became alienated from other-selves._ _This entity was positive. However, its journey was difficult due to the inability to use, synthesize, and harmonize the understandings of the desires of self so that it might have shared, in full compassion, with other-selves._ _This entity thus became very unhealthy, as you may call it, in a spiritual complex manner, and it is necessary for those with this type of distortion towards inner pain to be nurtured in the inner planes until such an entity is capable of viewing the experiences again with the lack of distortion towards pain."_ *RA MATERIAL (1981)*

@@tararoast Hello, thanks for commenting and disagreeing with me, the perception of an external entity is an illusion of the brain, since 2 cells do not see that they form a single body, the perception of separativity is a perception of this plane, but it is unity in other higher planes I believe that by communicating with an entity you are communicating with a part of yourself, thank you!

Crowley did complete Abramelin on the back of the pony, he had everything he required in his head including the Oratory etc remember he played Chess blind folded and at one instance played two opponents and won both games which is incredible visualization. So I side with Crowley rather than Mr Skinner, Crowley completed Abramelin, on one occasion he was so engrossed with the ritual he did not notice he and the pony had fallen down a 30 foot drop, fortunately neither were hurt or not seriously. Please give me your opinions and what you believe is true.

Crowley did not complete the Abramelin Operation. He gave up after only 3 months into the process, right after he conjured the Demonic Dukes & principalities. And he ended up paying the ultimate price for not staying dedicated and devoted to the oath and path he started. He ended up dying as a possesed debauched lecher, Penniless, a drug addict and alone. Although there is some beneficial knowledge in Crowley's writings. Crowley himself is in no way whatsoever a Hero or Magical Path Role Model. If anything he is a real life cautionary tale. Reminiscent of the Renaissance Story of Faust and Mephistopheles.

@@jakerobinhoodson4136 each of us have an opinion but the completion of the Abramelin on the back of a pony through visualization was a supreme act of concentration, that the two of them went over a small cliff which Crowley realized after the fact so I do hold that he completed the rite albeit in a unique way.
