I've only learned a couple of years ago how my great-grandmother was "brainwashed" into denying her aboriginal culture as a kid (even though she herself was mixed), thanks to an all-paid vacation in a convent. It worked, seeing how she praised her "paler" kids while detesting her own darker complexion. She never told anyone this, my grandmother only learned about it all after her mother died. It only makes me 1/16 Huron, but that baptism scene still punched me right in the gut. I’m mad for her and all the others who had to go through this, even though she herself seemed to have accepted and embraced her "conversion".

That is horrific. To think all this still happened less than a human lifetime ago, and that we easily could revert back to that. That it was still the norm in 90s Australia. That it's still the norm in many places. I'm sickened by that. Thank you for sharing it too, because there can't be enough awareness of the sickness of indigenous assimilation. Kent Nerburn wrote the similar story of a Lakota man who, in the book, goes by the name Dan, in an excellent work called "Neither Wolf Nor Dog" that I found shook me out of ignorance of this issue and made me research more.

Saw them tonight for first time. No words can explain their power in this live performance. I’m still just grooving hours later. Went for coheed (die hard fan of fifteen years) and yes supreme and memorable but there is just something about this group, I could’ve paid that much to just see them. They will rise and what they are standing for will create a mass awakening 🙏🏽🌻

Great show in Peterborough tonight with monster truck I got both your cds and you guys signed em for me that was cool, even cooler when I saw in there you thanked mustache club I'm from oshawa, you guys stayed and talked to the fans and gave autographs I was very happy to see that down to earth behavior. How funny it was when you told me drums wer your first instrument you learned as well lol you are very talented and the songs are well written I play guitar now though and appreciate the different styles on guitar with brass and steel slide and the double neck rickenbacher with bass bottom that was killer bro. I'll be looking for you guys to come around more often I very much enjoy your music and still waiting for the rest of the band to come out on stage LMAO. Keep on rockin boys, your only going up from here.

So powerful, so well filmed and performed. I'm so proud that these guys are from Canada :D As soon as the kid was getting drowned ("baptised") by the catholic pastor I was like, O daaamn these guys are gonna cause some waves. The Americas are blessed with a profound native spirituality that is deeply and sacredly connected to the land, and they are treated poorly for not assimilating to the "new world." I'm so glad that a hot band like these guys can still be humble enough to risk public accord, and talk about an elephant in the room like this. And to do it in style!
