This week Travis puts crown moulding up in our main living room. Our main living room has vaulted ceilings, so it made cutting the crown moulding a little goofy. If you have a vaulted ceiling, Travis did all the work for you! Watch this video to see how easy it is to cut the angles for vaulted ceilings!

It looks great. We’re homeowner diy so no need to be 100% perfect. I’m about to tackle the same issue. Too much thinking but with your advice, I will jump into it (and pray!). Thank you for your honest video.

Believe it or not, I was in the same deal, taking me more than 2 hours . So, plan B, I just bought the corner triangle insert issue resolved😂 😅 Thank you very much for sharing your experience.

My dad is a carpenter and said he could prob do the cuts fairly easy, and the reason it worked is because your slope is only moderate. Don't worry about the haters man, it looks fine, i was actually debating on weather i should do this it not on mine. I love the look of crown molding but it so expensive. I was also considering the foam but I'm worried it will just look fake

Doing mine in a mobile home, with 7° ceiling slope. Spent last night cutting little test pieces. I've cut oddball wall angles before, baseboard, and chair rail. Easiest way to get a great looking joint was to butt one side in, cut an outside 45°, then cut out along the edge. They mate up fine, regardless of the weird angle. It's that 7°, that's throwing me off.

Do you mean a cope and if so which side is coped? Straight into sloped or sloped into straight?

We see how to but not necessarily if it's entirely correct to do so? It may be argued that crown molding was originally part of Greek/Roman architecture involving columns supporting horizontal beams with decorative elements attached to them (the entablature) of which the crown molding was at the top. Running crown molding up and along slanted ceilings was not often done since that would involve separation from the entablature of which it was an integral oart. Today, we often forget the traditional roots of various molding which were always just parts of architectural orders. So crown molding is more correctly installed level, no matter what the ceiling does (as if columns were holding them up) The fact that you're not installing all of architectural elements here, is no excuse to alter the original locations of their placements. A silly point but still something to consider...

I bought a DeWalt sliding meier saw. I also purchased every tool and gadget to help along with crown molding that being said do you think it would just be easier and save me a lot of stress to hire somebody to do this I have all the molding and tools supplies

It's hard to start when you're not confident in what you're doing, but I promise if you just jump into it it'll be easier than you think! Sounds like an awesome project, let us know how it goes!

The reason that you can't really explain how your level/rake intersection is sorta working, is because it really isn't . It's simply not possible without altering the profile and width of one of the moldings. You have however "fudged it" and made it work, especially with a little caulk. This was only possible because the rake angle of the sloped ceiling was moderate.

It turned out looking really amazing, I can't speak for how it would work on a dramatic slope, but I'd definitely use this method again.
