The reason why I went solo on a long roadtrip.. Watch until end!
A massive Crown of Thorns (COTs) outbreak is happening right now in Maniquin and nearby islands. Livelihood of thousands are at risk due to the outbreak. With a team of 12 we sailed to Maniquin island to make a count of how many COTs we can get in a small section of the island and then estimate how many are in the whole reef. With the data we hope to get greater support by higher authorities.

Blood, sweat and tears was put into this project. For now my job is done, people are starting to not only talk about this sort of avoided or left alone catastrophe but things are being finally done for these local fishing communities. Power of social media and awareness has proven once again it can really help, so thank you for watching! Please share the video and let's hope Culasi gets further support by higher authorities because they need it more now then ever. Peace ✌🏻🤙🏻

Finn, question: how much $ would a fisherman earn there, in a day, week or month? What if we raised some money and put a bounty in COTs and paid locals to harvest and destroy them for a time to help them financially and rud the corals of COTs? Can you pm me the numbers?

You’re such a self sacrifice person. You think less about yourself, because you’re concerned about of others and love of the ocean without looking for personal gain. Proud Filipino here, to have Finn Snow in our country👍💯. Shout out also to 12 volunteers who join you. Hope this video brings everyone a great impact of concern and awareness for sustainable oceans. And I had a happy feeling too, even you travel solo to this trip you never forget to include Sherlyn to your thumbnail, meaning, she’s always gonna be a part of your life💑❤️

True, but they can only eat juvenile cots before their spine hardens, after that, there's nothing they can do. Larger species of corynactis can help exterminate cots if we have an abundant population of them.

@@a.i.dimmer4616 fishermen still catch them cuz their mindset is; the larger the fish you'll catch the more profit you'll earn. Which is a huge problem even though some local communities ban catching parrot fish, local fishermen still look the other way thus giving coral reefs a mortal problem.

Hi Finn, you are an inspirational to everyone who cares about the living things in the ocean, if the government have some sort of program to revive and revitalise the reef with the help of the community. Together, the natural beauty of the reef will benefit the not only the people of that island, but the nation in itself that will bring tourism and create jobs. So well done Finn for bringing this to the surface and the sounding awareness that URGENTLY needed. Thank you so much Finn, you have have pusong Pinoy!!! From your avid fan from Australia 😙🤗😇

Papa juPri don't get me wrong but stating "those couple vloggers" might sound offensive to those couple vloggers that is truly love the country. Know this too that we have NO RIGHTS at all to judge them(vloggers) weather they use Filipino for their own gain or no. I mean there's lot of couple vloggers who are so genuine about what they do and if some are not still they promote our country they still spending their money to travel the Philippines so they can produce good content for their vlogs. Being said I don't intend to put negative comments about why fin had only 342k subs until now... Im just wondering might marketing of his vlogs is not as effective as anyone might be... All are possible but anyways I really wish fin will have millions subs soon.. Much love and God bless

@@rondxb745 Ron DXB Apologies. May I rephrase then: SOME couple vloggers. And oh, I'm not judging at all. I'm just stating my own perception of their intentions. At the end of the day, it's still up to the viewer's discernment and choice -- to each their own, as they say. It just irks me that some of our fellow Filipinos are blinded by those guys and that some of these couple vloggers capitalize on that.

Crown of thorns starfish has good benefits to ocean, they feed on weak or deceased corals ..but the problem occurs when these starfish are abundant .Only pufferfish, triton snails, wrasse or parrot fishes or mol-mol(bisaya) or loro (tagalog) and trigger fish (pakol) can eat it these starfish so the MAIN CONCERN here is OVERFISHING of STARFISH NATURAL PREDATORS. Thanks for helping the Philippines in preserving its coral reefs. These COTs are so devasting to marine life. So many spread out endlessly. Kudos to you and your crew!

good job finn to put this out to the masses....and with the help of us, your subscribers to further spread the info. i could only guess that the reason for this to be such a huge "thorn" on antique's side is that this region is mostly not known to the masses. government/tourism dept mostly concentrate on the boracays and palawans and siargaos of the nation, antique is mostly unknown . i am not from antique but i am from panay island, born and raised in iloilo/guimaras and i have a few friends from my childhood days who calls antique home. i have been to the province several times during my childhood days when everything was still raw and untouched and crown of thorns was non-existant.....hopefully with your help this will be eradicated, thank you finn.
