In my experience as an English teacher, the common mistake I hear with intransitive verbs is that my students try to make them passive. That can never be happen' (x) 'He was arrived late' (x) For me, the key point about intransitive verbs is that they can't be passive because they have no object.

6:57 I believe "is" is the verb. Laughing and walking in this case are present participles. I understand it's just easier to describe the action this way, but I find verbs can be quite complex to new English learners. Btw, as a teacher myself, I find it hard to describe a participle without saying it is a verb (since the actual action is described by the participles not the "be verb"). Can you give me some advice?
