" I have worked at IBM for three years" isn't it should be present perfect continuous? i have been working for IBM for three years. what is the difference between the present perfect and the present perfect continuous? (confusing) when we talk about a film or a book review, what tens/tenses should we use? Regards Abbas

Abbas Taheer It is quite difficult to explain the difference in the comments section. But if you look at this lesson at 15:20 I explain that we use the present perfect to describe duration ONLY for those types of verbs. Well, we also have a similar rule but with different types of verbs for when we can use the present perfect continuous to describe a duration. An example is we can say "I have been cleaning the car for 3 hours." but we cannot say "I have cleaned the car for 3 hours" - clean is a "normal" verb - an ACTION verb. There are many other differences but that is the main one. :) Andrew
