How can a JM/MM grant a bail in a non bailable offence which is exclusively triable by COS? If a court doesn't have power to punish, then how does he have power to grant bail? Can you please clarify on this point?

They have the power to try any case which is within their jurisdiction. For e.g CJM has power to try cases punishable upto 7 years of imprisonment. So he can try any person for a case having 7 years or less than 7 years imprisonment on conviction
