Just because I don't like horses in game, I usually sub (at least) a level of Beast Rider Cavalier. The way you describe is more "efficient" in that Seelah is better able to tank when she gets into combat, which is absolutely in your wheelhouse of builds with the highest numbers, but I tend to value mobility in my gameplay so this build is mostly just "some good jumping off points" for me. Thanks for continually inspiring creative gameplay :)

You can do a level in Sable Marine ranger to get a griffon instead. The flying attack will eventually start knocking multiple enemies prone which will make it easy to trigger AoOs.

If you want to do a Tower Shield build DR stacking is the way to go rather than AC. Pure Tower Shield Specialist can get DR 42/- easily with Living Fortress, Impassable Guard, and the Mythic DR Feats. It actually a pretty dope build for Aeon or Lich.

The main issue is when I was testing it, even something like 35 or so DR wasn't cutting it on Unfair, as late game demons were still doing around 80 on normal strikes or even double on Crits.

Honestly, I would go for Divine Weapon Bond. Yes, the only actually good weapon bond ability (Brilliant Energy) only unlocks at paladin 14 as I recall (if you want more damage, I guess you could skip dragon disciple for that), but horses are big and among the worst pet classes - it doesn't carry early game the way a leopard would, and for lategame you're not even getting full levels despite spending a boon companion feat. And being big is a big downside as it gets in the way: unless you micro really hard, I would consider it a net downside, and having to micro in order not to get stuck in doorways is a downside in its own right. Horse is what I would use if I was making Seelah into a damage-dealer, wrecking demons with a fauchard and what not.

Personally, I'd go for Sohei instead of traditional monk. You lose 2 will, but get an extra level on your pet and get them 4 levels early, which feels worth it, imo.

Didnt notice that mythic. Brownfur, enlarge, mutation is an outright 14 str and 7 ac if thqt works as half str to ac which plus armor bonus would really make plate viable alongside naked tanks.

I really like the idea of Dragon Disciple on Seelah and a witch dip for familiar and Iceplant is a great way to do it! Couple of questions: 1) Can another party member cast mage armor on Seelah to avoid un/reequiping her armour and shield? It's not clear if that's just to avoid spell failure or if mage armor only works if the target has no armour when cast. I definitely couldn't be arsed doing it. 2) How would you build her Horse if she's the tank? Your pet video's DPS build is designed for tripping pets. 3) Is shield bash any good for this? Seems to have feats to spare and could increase DPS. I'm excited for the new companions builds! Would love an ultimate party buffer companion build or a Magus (Sword Saint daggers?) Woljif build.

There is an option in the difficulty tab to allow experience to be shared with any character that is not in the party with you or to have it only shared with active companions (those in the party). If you leave it off, which it is by default, then yes, companions will get experience with you and you can then level them up if you decide to use them. If you decide to have it on to get levels faster, then they won't level up with you and will stay their default recruitment level.

I don't understand how you're combining the archmage feat and the heavy armour feat. The avoidance feat clearly states that you need to be wearing the heavy armour to get the str bonus to AC, does that stay active even if you take off the heavy armour ?

Good rework of Seelah The Tank. But I discovered something with "Mythic Armor Focus (Heavy Armor) - Avoidance". I neither get the half of the str bonus to my AC instead of dex, nor the heavy armor focus bonus when the heavy armor has the material type: Mithral. Is that a bug or some how intended?

Nvm my question. I found the answer in the description of Mithral. It always counts one category lighter than normal for limitations. Means in that case heavy armor counts as medium... But characters like my merc SCM, with medium armor proficiency can not wear those mithral heavy armor (as we know now, it counts as medium armor). very weird thats all. So is it a heavy armor now or medium armor, or is it an armor at all?! Noone really knows, not even the devs themself, it seems :P

I love this game but one thing I really don't like is the respec system, why can't we retrain all companions from level 1, its so stupid to limit it to the level they join at...

I'm not familiar with the new dlc but going anything above 85ish or 90 is overkill for unfair dificulty (ac reaches a cap at a point where the enemy only hits you on a 20 roll, effectively you can't go above 95% evasion per hit, unless you stack buffs like blur that function with a second roll, but are countered by truesight), so dont feel the need use so many feats for defense. Going more damage or utility might be more useful in the long run. Also don't feel the need to "dip". Despite complaints, the game is pretty playable even on unfair by going full single class or prestige class if you want. The ac numbers going up doesn't necessarily mean you are being more useful. I'd be more careful with spell selection and feat selection than class dips. No offense to cRPG Bro, I love your videos and appreciate the builds, especially when you try to keep the "general vision" of a character (Seelah going tanky armour and shield build, which is not exactly the best or easiest to build). It's just that some people might find it weird that seelah is focusing on a weird kungfu art (crane style) to actually be defensive or being cursed as a witch to achieve that, despite no narrative recognition of such. My advice to people wanting that extra tankiness early on on unfair is to just not be afraid of using and abusing consumables. This game throws way more than you will ever need at you so keep pumping yourself full of potions and scrolls without a worry, its not like they resell for much either way. On core difficulty and below, you will be fine even if you build Seelah as a shield bashing armor and shield focused paladin. If you get a horse for her, just focus on giving ac to the mount and just build seelah for damage.

Seelah's best 1st level spell is Bless Weapon. Automatically confirm any crit? Yes please! Enemies with massive AC suddenly become a LOT easier when every hit is a crit -- because you need a 19-20 to hit them anyway. Incredibly strong, and if you go Trickster you can even make it a cantrip and pass it out like candy.

Oh and Sword of Sithhud might be a nice option. It's an act 5 reward for finishing DLC 5. Once per day you can get +6 natural armor and DR 20 bludgeoning it last until it prevented 60 damage. Plus it also has some nice but unreliable crit hit effects.

I've been messing with Lann as a winter child druid and found out that the ranged attack the blizzard elemental gets will trigger other natural attacks granted by a skald's rage. The initial ranged attack doesn't benefit from power attack but all of the free natural attacks do so I have been using power attack feats for it. If anyone is looking for an alternative to an old Lann staple.

Unless its been patched, whilst it is a pain, contrary to its description, you can unequip 2 of either rings or amulet, cast the buff and then reequip them and maintain +2 APR. Even if you couldnt do this, it would often be worth it for a martial character and just using triumphant advance.

I think the horse is there more as a pet in this build, as it is a better choice than the weapon bond. Given the investment in AC for Seelah herself, there would be no point to use the pet as a mount for tanking. Can be wrong but I don't think there's any problem if you go bully for the trip or even make some sacrifice and pick a level in a different class (like beast rider) to be able to choose a different pet. In any case, check out his Pet guide, there might be something in it, not specifically for this build but usable on it.

Question. If you have access to the Trickster's improved critical line of feats what do you usually replace it with in your companion builds?

Weapon Focus, Dazzling Display & Shatter Defenses. Especially as they're picked exactly when you'd get the Trickster special ones.

If I wanted to squeeze in a level dip in another class to get a non-horse animal companion (beast master for example), what would you recommend dropping to make room for it?

I would just go for a DPS focused Pet since this Seelah can already tank quite fine, so Dog or Wolf for free Trip on all attacks.

He respecced with a mod. So he still has most of the endgame gear= higher stats e.g.

The character is being respecced from end game to cover all 20 levels, and this takes in consideration some gear bonuses from late game gear. There's no difference level up wise, however, the build progression is the same.

SW 9/Geomancer 1(Elemental/Draconic)/Loremaster 9/Titan Fighter 1. Cold and Fire are about even in damage output now due to Geomancer and the Act 1 ring so it's dealers choice. You will want Arcane Armor Training/Mastery though late game for the Hide armor in Iz.

Oh I like this idea. I made Lann a griffin ranger but I think Divine Hound is more powerful on him. The only issue is using flying attack in turn based is a pain, it's not even possible in turn based on console as you can't switch to the mount and I tend to use turn based for the harder fights to micro manage.

@@cameronkirby9479 I like the aerial attack in turn based because you can take out casters really quickly with griffin and rider. Nearly one-shots everything with the right weapon and the right feats and spells (mount combat, long spear, lead weapons).

Any chance of a Magic Deceiver build? I tried it with Trickster and it really felt underwhelming. Seems Taylor made for the path, but man, it was rough.

unfortunately this class is bugged. No elemental dice stacking. We need to w8 for fix if you want to make it work as damade dealer. On other hand - it is wery powerfull with slow + phantasmal kill. DC caster is good

Since you start with shield focus and are using heavy shields, would the new feats that let you get a free knockdown with shield bash be worth investing into?

I think they're a bit tricky to use as that would require DEX investment + Dual Wielding feats.
