I heard all the London crowd coming in on Thursday afternoon. As I was about to talk to them another station came in, so I just sat on the side. He was saying they are on at 6AM, then after 4PM, so maybe I might get them next time, he also said you have to be thick skinned. Also heard Devon, Cornwall and Bristol very strong.

Wanting one of these radios here in the States. It is also known as AnyTone 6666, neat little radio and powerful as well, sometimes people run an RM Italy amp on them as well.

Shame you lost the Coby. The 6900N is a fine radio but the controls wont feel the same. Also the Alinco DX10 is a good option.

I know the 69 (aka 5555) as i call my new Transceiver has a lot more power to send out my message than my M-mini. Thanks Fred your advice was very helpfull...

Being from north West England we very rarely get UK / Irish skip (as we're right in the middle of the British isles) , the hop is too long so it's usually northern France / western Germany for short skip. I have heard that southern England regularly is able to speak to Scotland/ Northern Ireland.

Brilliant Fred, thanks so much from John 68CT083, got my CT callsign for Zello but now really want to try CB, what rig and antenna would you suggest for a beginner?? Many thanks.
@CB-RADIO-UK2 жыл бұрын
If possible start with a SSB rig as that opens you up to many more channels and freqs inc skip. . The CRT 6900N is a good starter radio and easy to use. If you want 100% legal than the President McKinley is recommended. For standard 40/40 legal CB radios i would look at the cheap CRT and President range. I picked up a £60 president the other year and its well made. Antenna wise always try for a base station set up and as high as you can. A basic £35 Silver Rod is ideal. If you want to go mobile then look at Sirio 4000 /5000. Here's my small President. kzbin.info/www/bejne/lXioYZljYtunf9U

I just ordered a President Randy III and a 51 inch Antenna + BNC to TNC adaptor, might have it by the weekend, Amazon won't ship the radio to Ireland for some reason so had to use another seller through Amazon. I'm curious as to why so many people go beyond the 26.96-27.41MHz legal limit ? it would be far easier make contacts if People kept to the standard 40 ch frequencies especially for People with 40 CH CBs no ? I also hold an Amateur radio license but decided to get into CB for some more radio fun and to keep CB alive, I live in the country so not expecting to contact many if anyone on a portable setup but might invest in an Imax 2000 + hoping to make more contacts in Dublin when at work.

Great stuff. We mostly hang around 27.305 which is channel 30 on the mids. Mostly people stick with the FM and Euro block around here. Think the only time i go higher is the 555.

great little radio (and video cheers) Are these 9900 radios well made ? im considering one , Im hoping to purchase a really reliable radio , any advice would be most welcome cheers
@CB-RADIO-UK2 жыл бұрын
Hi. I would asy for the money the 9900/6666 is pretty well made. They are not a Yaesu or an Icom but you will pay many times more for one of those. What makes them really good is the performance esp on SSB. They have almost stupid amounts of power. The audio on the standard mic is very clear and ive never had a bad report. Like most CRT radios they can be a tiny amount off freq when starting from cold but its not really a big issue. Sometimes you will see me start on 27.3049 and then move to 27.3050 when the radio warms up.

What’s best the 6900 or 9900 bud
@CB-RADIO-UK Жыл бұрын
Depends on the learning curve. The 6900 is easier to use and more like a CB radio. The 9900 has more power and a better mic but is more like a Ham radio to use and easy to mess up the mem channels.
