New Subscriber here from New Zealand Love your channel just got back into CB after 30 year absence and been trying out old power supplies I had lying around on an old AM 12 channel CB as i don't want to ruin my other Good classics. Anyway this CB should be good for 4 watts AM standard but i used this Homebuilt PSU that was built to power CBs/Ham sets but somehow lost its Grunt as its only putting out 11.4 volts and my test CB under transmit mode is only doing 1/2 watt average and 1 watt PEP But I found another PSU from the late 70s early 80s I'm sure is an actual CB PSU as it has the old school CB plug of the same radio but is putting out 14.7 volts max under transmit mode will drop to 14.5 giving the CB 3watt average and about 4.2 watts PEP will this PSU be safe to use you think? Also does hum a bit on transmit but only because i was testing very close to CB unit . It does inside have an adjustable switch like a potentiometer maybe i could back this off a tad Your thoughts?

I think long term you really do not want to go over 13.8 volts. Depends how much you love the radio. The hum is most likely the transformer. Personally i would prob invest in a China LED power supply as they are cheap and you can adjust the voltage spot on.

Thanks for your advice. Just one other thing you mentioned LED I'm a little apprehensive about using anything LED because i have a LED light magnifying grass and when i pass it over a CB set especially with a sensitive receiver it causes radio noise interference which begs the question if i replace a incandescent bulb thats blown out on a say a VU meter why do people replace these with LED replacements I sure hope they don't cause Interference personally i prefer the orange Glow because Real Radios Glow in the Dark Haha. But i guess they are Brighter but hopefully there are Better designed LED as the last thing i want is more QRM Thanks again 👍🇳🇿@@CB-RADIO-UK

Ok does the radio have to be modded to make this work when I hold the 5 key down all it does is change the frequency of I try to long press the 2 key it just changes the frequency I have to hit through F and then the 2 key to get it to change between the a&b . If I hit the f and 5 it does something different the what you are showing

Can be tough. Its normally down to the PC not finding the COM port more than the driver. My PC tends to choose a different port if i use a different USB socket.

Fred, I've bought the D-219 and the D-368 *twice* but I own only one of each. The XHDATA D-328 model predates the D-219 by 2 or 3 years and uses the same Si 4825-A10 DSP chip as the latter. The MP3 circuit in the D-328 is added separately and is not a core function of the DSP chip. I think XHDATA has decided to phase out models that use the Nokia BL-5C type of battery, since the new budget D-220 model is designed to run on two AA batteries just like the D-219. 🙂 When it comes to _inexpensive_ analogue SW radios, I very much prefer DSP to traditional analogue superheterodyne. The issue with cheap all-analogue SW radios like the Kaide and Tecsun is that many of them are poorly calibrated at the factory, let alone having decent QC checks before packing and shipping. The fine art of designing quality analogue SW radios had been lost since Sony, Panasonic, Grundig and Philips stopped making them. 📻😥

The front panel control pcb went faulty and neither the seller not the company willing to share any details or support to restore it. Thus once faulty it goesto dustbin and entire money spent is 😊wasted.

I got this XHData in lockdown, after a long search for an affordable multiband radio, and I've not been dissapointed for the price (about £66 on offer at the time). I love the airband on it, and it does most thing pretty well. It's not failed me yet. Its not really a browsing radio for HF, as the muted tuning makes it tough to use over long periods, but so long as you already know what you're looking for, its difficult to beat in its class. Looking forward to the review!

Erm, so past 3 months ive just been pressing alsorts to get a nose, finally found your page, im trying to follow what your doing here, but mine does show or do same as what yours is doing, ive checked sticker on the rear and say it is the same unit. Think i need to rest it, but not sure on how to do this, but i wanting to learn how to make signal boosters, little solar panel then i can leave them at family houses and make a pretty good signal,

When I follow the directions for the chirp software on the spreadsheet, I have all of the frequencies and offsets set properly. When I go to upload it to the radio it uploads everything except the frequencies for every channel. All channels end up the same 145.470. Why will the frequencies from the spreadsheet not upload to the radio properly?
@CB-RADIO-UK2 күн бұрын
Try saving it as a new file, close Chirp then open and re-load the saved file then write to radio.
@prepperboss2 күн бұрын
@ when I download from the radio where the frequencies are the same, the frequencies are the same as the ones I programmed. They just do not upload to the radio except for the 145.470 for each channel freq.

I have two of these D-808 radios for years, a Sihuadon and an XHDATA. They're both become drawer queens for some time and the black Sihuadon has since had its micro USB port fallen inside the compartment, while its volume pot became scratchy just after eight months. 🙁 If Fred had just bought this recently it should come with a USB-C charging port and a revamped RF front end circuit, with surface mounted filters instead of the old design, discrete filters. Fun facts: The D-808 is actually a derivative of the older Digitech AR-1780 sold in Australia, circa 2017. The AR-1780 runs on 4 AA batteries and have backlit buttons. The old model is also sold under the Deshibo brand in China. The user manual that accompanied the earlier XHDATA D-808 units was a copy & paste job from the AR-1780 instruction leaflet, which led to some confusion.

Mine is by my side most of the time. The receiver sensitivity is great even with the telescopic antenna when conditions are good and the plug in wire is even better. When it's too cold in the shack - curse the govts. winter fuel decision - then the 808 is my solace.
@michaelmable3362 күн бұрын
I got one of these a few months ago. Very impressive for the price, and way more capable than my old Sony ICF-SW7600 (though not as well built - not surprising). I got my D-808 direct from the XHDATA web store for about £60 which was the best price I could find. It has got me back down the rabbit hole of shortwave DXing - Oh no! 😂😂😂

It's really sensitive machine. It's not cheap but pump quality is really bad. I have 6 of them and all the time some problems with pump and microswitch. It's not changeable, you need to buy complete new pump with motor which is 100euro.

I've had my D808 for some months now and it's a cracking little set. It lives either in my backpack for when I'm out and about or next to the bath when I'm listening to the football. Lasts forever on a full charge and even does a decent job on airband.

If you get the check connection error on the screen. if you move it over to watch the read/write data % you will see it still counts up and reads or writes the radio correctly.
