thank you for doing this! I have several CRTs and am having a hard time finding people that can work on them, so I have started researching on being able to service them myself. an

Hints: ALWAYS mark the rings first so you can go back ! SAVE some yoke wedges & correction magnets from a junker. There is often a locking ring to loosen. Let the set warm up 1/2 hr. Set controls Bright, contrast ( pix) mid way & color level OFF. Focus & G-2 are in series, a voltage divider. Adj focus for best. Adjust G-2 so when everything is turned down there is NOT any thin lines or grey screen. Best done in dark room. nuff fer now LFOD !

Really good tips that weren't mentioned in the video.

Can you please tell me what G2 is? I have a really good 29 inch fx30e Trinitron and I can’t get it completely sharp with the potentiometer on the flyback. Is convergence also important when it comes to focus? It doesn’t look very un-converged so I have not touched it yet. I don’t know how to get this amazing flat screen CRT as sharp as my older 29” Trinitron..

@@rolux4853 G-2 means " CRT grid #2" Also called "screen" on some sets. Good luck & LFOD !

Question about the focus pot. Isn't that area of the TV dangerous? Like the area right around that panel? What screwdriver do I nee to use to adjust the focus? Does it have to be plastic? Also, what if my screwdriver slips off while I'm adjusting it, and my hand makes contact with the piece around it?
@P-0-SeventeenАй бұрын
@jonebize13 I use my hand to twist the focus and g2 pot all the time now if it's accessible, so it should be fine if you're not poking around a whole lot around the flyback itself. It's made to be adjusted so it's been pretty shock proofed

@@P-0-Seventeen So basically in your experience, if your finger touches the panel directly behind it, that should be okay too? The reason I've not been sure if because that section of the TV -- I forget the name of it, the flyback? is supposedly dangerous. And it's all connected. So I don't know at what point it becomes dangerous to touch. Thanks again
@P-0-SeventeenАй бұрын
@jonebize13 yeah that area is all fine, I've shoved a screwdriver or two in there before and missed the pot but it's given me no trouble, as long as you're not just randomly shoving it in all around and touching everything lmao

@@P-0-Seventeen K I'm just going to use my hand. Seeing your video right now on your Toshiba which gives me some confidence. It's hard to touch one of these until you've seen someone do it. Thanks man.

my Samsung has a place for focus like that but is requires me to use a screw driver to adjust it , is it safe to mess with if I ever need to?
@Woodys_Wisdom7 ай бұрын
Yes but dont use metal tools. I actually used a bamboo skewer that i cut one end flat like a screwdriver and made adjustments with.

The correct way of saying it is "what the focus looks like" not "how the focus looks like"
