We'd love to know, what is your resting heart rate?

I would love to know how you measure resting heart rate. Some trackers measure it during deep sleep, some during the day when sitting still and some first thing when you wake up and are still lying in bed.

Yesterday evening I got a warning from my Gramin, had over 70 bpm even though I was laying down. The watch was correct, just hours before I had finished my first 50 km trail run in the scorching sun, with 956 and 955 meters of climbing and descending...... I still need recovery.

Low 40s. Doesn't mean anything, it was also low 40s when I was obese and unfit.

My resting HR at age 50 according to Garmin is between 42-52 depending on the day. 3 decades of running. I get accused of being bradycardic by medical staff quite often. I have to tell them I'm athletic bradycardia.

Some real gold here especially in regard to getting sick. Biggest mistake of my training was doing an easy run with a runny nose and feeling just a little under the weather despite recently visiting the doctor. That one mistake cost me 6 months plus of down time due to ‘an illness’ which caused myocarditis/pericarditis. Key long term symptom was Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia where my resting heart rate of 50 bpm would go close to 100 bpm just by standing up from sitting. Illness seems to have passed now God willing though I am told it could return. Most of my training is now Zone1 & Zone2.

It’s a definite indicator of better health if it trends lower of time.

Mines 46 although I don’t run I do random high intensity cross trainer exercise in 10 minute segments and resistance weights ( 59yrs old) I’ve reclaimed similar fitness to when I was much younger. But I’ve worked slowly up to that level and changed my diet massively to no processed food and higher protein foods.

My HR has always been naturally low, even though I just started running last year (in my 50s). About 10 years ago a nurse was surprised I wasn’t on meds because it was so low. I’ve been checked out with a full cardiac work up too. Laying down watching TV it’s often south of 60 and if I relax I can see it down to 55. All that is to say that I don’t know how much I can trust my own resting HR to indicate anything because it’s been low even when I’ve been out of shape.

Ave RHR on my Garmin is normally between 40-44 (56yo male triathlete). The lowest I've seen on my watch is 33. It's totally genetic as I had a RHR in the low 50's when I was 12kg heavier and completely sedentary.

Last night 40 and now breakfast 60. 58 old male and training for half marathon now. And also low blood pressure but I have coronary disease. Don't worry I still test run Cooper twice a year. It is 2800m. Heart is okay. Must eat statins...

@MrCav35 I know. My comment still stands. Apart from, possibly, the makers of the video (and that is doubtful), nobody cares what your rhr is. Equally, it is valid to say that posting low rhrs is humble bragging. I'd have more respect for someone who posted a rhr of 68.

@@clongownian1 you're the only one posting a negative comment whereas everyone else is providing the poster with a varied range of resetting heart rates. I fail to see any bragging but I do see someone attention seeking by trying to edgy.
