Crucible Full Run With OP Magic Staff! | No Rest for the Wicked

Hey guys, another crucible run! Loving the game, can't wait to try out more weapons/builds. Some things to note: -I was level 21 on this character when it first cleared crucible -I am getting tons of focus + hp on kill so I can keep blasting -abusing channel spell & hp on kill -I built focus stat until I hit 200 focus for med potions & to hit 4 fireballs -focus potions being cheap and infinite means you basically never need to melee with the staff -Damage increasing items DO NOT WORK ON MAGIC. 20% inc damage ring and 12% inc damage rings does nothing. Added damage you get from weapons only work on hits also and not magic -All my stats are in int and hp with about 2 in stam and 3 in equip load -Because gnarled staff could be bought from the blacksmith, i bought around 6 of them and used the best enchant -Feel Free to ask any questions!

Finally beat with a mage build as well. I *really* like the first craftable staff "Spheren" - fully upgraded it does incredible damage with both the icicle and especially the close range frost slam. I also really like its attack combos; has two double hit swings in its basic attack chain, and it's running/rolling 1st and 2nd attack come out quick. Recommend checking it out! The 42 INT staff has better ice spell diversity but all 4 slots are taken and moves aren't as good.

Oh and how much HP do you have? It was cool to see channel take such a small chunk.

@@7thdrxn Just checked and I have 31 points in Health, giving me 145 base hp! With a couple pieces of % increased health gear, it was closer to 175 (my other characters now have that gear so I don't know for sure). With a sirloin platter, that's going to be 220 hp.

As someone who's still 'observing' tons of early access playthrough and reviews, this is actually the first time I saw someone use magic, that I thought it was nonexistent until now. I'm not a magic player myself, but from your playthrough it seems underrated and pretty fun.

I said the same thing lol. I asked another streamer if they would do a magic run and he said "in this game, using a 2 hand axe is still a magic run because we all use focus" and he was 100% serious lol

magic is insanely fun, insanely strong too. Very little investment for such a large damage increase, the fact that focus pots are effectively infinite as well just makes it ridiculously good. Been using the lightning staff you buy from the enchanter and the basic spell shoots 5 lightning balls that can all hit. They do less individually compared to fire but against big enemies it shreds quite nicely. The 150 focus attack does 4 times the damage as well it's quite nice actually

I still can't beat this boss, I'm stuck at this level. And I'm lvl 28 already! Damn. It sucks that if he kills you, then you have to go down all those crucible stages all over again. I need more practice to beat him but... how? How many more hours am I supposed to spend?

Nice vid. Glad I choose slow 2h instead of magic though. Seems it's OP to the point it gets stale after some time being so safe.

I hope you get the 2 Handed Falling Sky staff (Cold dmg), omg is so OP you have 4 spells with a teleportation (blink) being one of them, I've farmed crucible all day long and got 12 unique so far.

Damn that does sound pretty fun! I've seen people say magic was weak so I wanted to see for myself. Once you build the right gear and you have money at your disposal, you basically have infinite focus, can play at ranged and do massive damage.

Any focus build (bow as well) with gem on trousers returning focus is broken. You literally have infinite spells/bow shots. Tried with bow 1st, the build returns focus even if you don’t hit anything, no need for pots. Building mage with same build now.

I found Gnarled Harpoon from wood vendor very strong, Rune on it cost 25 focus and hit for ~100 AOE and it is 1H plus normal damage is good to...

Cool, I was wondering where all the build diversity was. Everyone seems to just use 2H melee builds. Was wondering if there were viable mages, archers, hybrids, etc in EA. I guess needing focus for spells and arrows means you’d normally have to alternate between melee & ranged, unless you chug focus potions.

With the combination of focus pots being cheap and crucible giving out so much money, you basically have infinite focus. Also, using the 'channel' spell to get 50 focus drains some hp, but then you just 1-shot a mob and your hp on kill staff/gear gives you it back! Works out perfectly. But yeah, I'm sure the idea was to use weak hits to get focus for big hits. They might need to put a cooldown on items or something. Magic is definitely the strongest build I've played by far and I've made, I think, 6 characters now!

It's definitely the strongest thing I've tried so far! It seems that the gnarled staff is stronger than the unique weapons lmao!

@@Snapziey It depends on your enchant rolls. The truly strong ones are when you get a high ATK base and get lucky on the enchant rolls. I believe Gnarled Staff can have a R1 starting white ATK at 5 (Vendor only sells 4), and you can get better Focus gain stat base too. I have a Plate mage which has 27 Health 15 Stam 11 Equip load rest in Int, 900 ish armor 150-170 Res 500 Focus Fat-rolling which I would just blink around and cast spells instead of dodging. Also has 22 stat points leftover un-allocated. Most of the unique weapons are pretty weak. And the strongest runes are definitely, Blink, Ice/Lightning Throws followed by any of the multi-hit or charge forward runes. Whilst spell do hit hard, they dont do Stagger damage. Ice/Lightning Throw literally Freeze/Electrocutes on top of stagger breaking bosses. (I have a 60 ATK Ice Breaker which Ice Throws for 111 damage x 2 that is focus positive too if I just want to quick run Crucibles) In honesty, I dont find spells that interesting yet since all the spell is generic elemental flavored bolt, shotgun, nova, area blast. No super beams, meteor to spice it up whereas weapon skill has some semblance of variety.

Totally random. I keep white gear that isn't very low armour/insanely heavy and quickly enchant stuff after a run as I go to repair.

There's a few ways to go about getting focus. First, once you start getting money, focus potions aren't too expensive. When I was doing my crucible run on that character I had about 100 focus potions. You can also use channel to gain 50 focus by sacrificing some hp, but if you get hp gained on kill on your staff/gear, it means one kill gives you all the HP you lost back. Try watching when I use channel in the video and then kill something!

@@victorchoong3553 just a random enchant on gear/weapon! Because you can infinitely buy the staff from the blacksmith, you can try get a good enchant. Blood stone in weapon also gives HP on kill and is also the only useful gem for magic weapons, as extra elemental damage doesn't work.
