i love the cricifix position, really under rated position. I have difficulty getting into the position, but it helps me hold back control against bigger guys so much better instead of going for the back. i do my best to practice getting into the position as often as possible though (until the pandemic came :(

Love the crucifix and I haven’t seen a lot of these transitions and I watch a lot of Marcelo Garcia! Great stuff. A move you can add, and I can think of a lot, is when they are turtles in the crucifix and the grab around your leg nearest their legs and you do a forward roll putting your non choking arm across their chest to the armpit as you roll to get a slick kimura. You can also get this from laying in the crucifix on your back and they reach around the same leg you can sit up and get your arm across their chest to prevent sitting up.

Nice tech, thanks Eli. We had a debate about this a couple weeks ago and was wondering your thoughts on the matter-- is the crucifix a dominant enough position that it deserves to be awarded points in competition?
@KnightJiuJitsu4 жыл бұрын
It’s definitely a super dominant position. But they are so picky about back positions in competition, that I don’t know. If you can’t get points for a body triangle then I would say probably not for crucifix either.
@counterhit1214 жыл бұрын
@@KnightJiuJitsu I hear you, but let's say you made the rules. There's no "they" or you are "they." Points for crucifix then or nah?
@KnightJiuJitsu4 жыл бұрын
If I were making the rules then yes. Positional control based off of controlling the hips and shoulders of the opponent in a dominant way would be sufficient in my opinion, so the crucifix would definitely meet that criteria.

My daughter 15yr is a white belt. She has been doing BJJ since May of this year. She is very small about 5'0 155lbs. She had her 1st BJJ tournament last weekend and got manhandled. She only faced boys and they had about 11 to 13 inches on her. She wants to do another tournament next month. How can I help her prepare if she ends up in the same situation?
@KnightJiuJitsu4 жыл бұрын
That’s a hard situation to prepare for. To give away that much size and strength she would need to be exponentially more technical than them. It would be better, in my opinion, to avoid small tournaments where that type of grouping is more likely to happen. Larger tournaments are more likely to have some females her size for her to compete against.
