Are you referring to the “Americana?” It’s the inverse of the “Kimura.” Both are bent arm locks, also referred to as double wrist locks in CACC or Ude Garami in Japanese terminology.

@KnightJiuJitsu thanks! Can you please make a video on tips for smaller people? As a smaller framed female, it's hard for me to do triangles and such. If I take the back it is effective I could to cross collar chokes, but the challenge is the getting there.

There’s something horrible about when you get grabbed by someone who does judo, or wrestles… they feel like a wall, and you kinda know you gotta try extra hard to not go flying…

Eh there are soooo many far safer and better ways to getup than the tech standup especially when strikes are involved. The tech standup is one of the WORST ways- that kick is relatively pretty weak as your position is not that stable- hecht if he just bum rushes you, jumps over thst leg, deflect it etc or the kick miss then you are in prime position to be knocked out or worse. That leg is far too slow, linear and relatively very weak. Look at taido and capoiria. They are both technically on the ground but they generate a ton of force and momentum - you can use things like the ebi geri (shrimp kick), manji geri(type of roundhouse kick) or even nen geri (types of takedowns) to safely get up while dynamically attacking in a very unpredictable way and generating ton of momentum! The ebi geri is very specific counter strike that is fantastic weapon against bum rushes- and by tripoding to do the ebi geri, you have an insanely stable strong platform to attack from compared to the weak tech standup. If the guy bum rushes as you launch the ebi geri, then he will be impaling himself on your heel. Also all of the attacks in taido and capoiria flow into other moves and attacks - which are many times more effective and safe compared to a "tech standup" Hecht even doing forward or backwards rolls is far better than the tech standup as you create ton of distance and get the momentum to standup or even attack- you can even add kicks and strikes into the forward and backwards rolls.

Can you do this on bigger dudes?
@KnightJiuJitsu
@KnightJiuJitsu 13 күн бұрын
Yes. You only have to actually “lift” the lower half of their body, and you’re doing most of the work with your hips. Watch some grappling competition and you’ll see this escape a lot.

So I suppose letting them into side is the move here after getting your grips. What if they set the weight back an don't let you get out of half guard?

I’m 59 yo old and had my first real fight 6 weeks ago. My brother said he’d “kill me” if we ever fought. 😮 (I’ve trained boxing, BJJ, and MMA as a hobbyist for many years at a decent level.) My brother (who is a personal trainer) has had little Arts training. He and I had an argument at a Restaurant with our parents with us. He got aggressive and we squared off. He said “touch me”. I smacked him in the back of his head saying “there I touched you.” We both headed for Chopsticks exit and the fight started. He started throwing punches as I entered and secured a Muay Thai Plumb. I laid my weight on him and pushed his head down. He threw punches but they zinged past my head. I turned him off balance and kneed him in the stomach. He stepped back and I threw a solid right jab to his left cheek. He attempted a tackle and I secured a head arm lock over the top. By then other customers and waitresses were outside asking us to stop. We did and went back inside. I felt pretty relaxed- granted, I knew he didn’t have a weapon or accomplices. I was calm on my feet as I wasn’t worried about my ground skills. I was so happy that I’d put in the many hours of standup and Jiu Jitsu sparring since I knew that it was real! For every loss in sparring or at a tournament meant I had work to do. Fighting for real was the best thing that happened to me. I walk differently. I’m more confident. I saw a bumper sticker “Do No Harm and Take No Shit”. I’ve done the work and that’s my Mantra- Thanks for your videos- I love BJJ since it seems to bring out the best in people
