She awes me, astounds me, scares me, sometimes makes me cry and the raw nerve that is her art makes she stare agape and want to catch her should she slip and almost fall. She has crawled through her own psyche, emerged awake and lucid and alive and unapologetic. And that's what art is for.

I remember growing up in Bosnia and getting "Boys for Pele" for my birthday. Although I didn't understand a word of English at that time, it felt like being transfixed with light. I would listen to the album until my ears bled, and even after all these years regardless of the language barrier, Tori Amos remains one of my favorite musical artists in the world.

I just watched this video and the Sharon den Adel version, they are both very good. Sharon does her own take on the song and doesnt try to copy Tori, which in itself is good, as there's only one Tori Amos. I enjoyed both...

Nothing coul describe her....she is an amazing singer. I've never heard of her till last year, when i accidently watched a movie trailer, "Rose", with Tori's A Sorta Fairytale song as the sountrack. From then, i start searching for all her songs. Its all very nice. But, because of I'm a malay, and living in Malaysia, its very hard to find her albums. This song falls under self expression. It wasn't composed for the enjoyment of an audience nor for money. It is filling in time. It doesn't even matter if there is an audience. However, composers, will pull out old songs & redo them. It is like unfinished canvases. It is said it took decades for the Mona Lisa painting to be finished. I have composed 3 "From The Rivers of Babylon" 1 every 10 yrs. A composer may do 24 songs & only 1 may appeal to an audience And, that's okay

Actually, I wouldn't. I've been in the concert production, music and recording industries for well over 30 years and as a performer, one of the first things I learned is you deliver the goods, but it's for the audience. Not you. Talent is when you can assemble a coherent artistic statement and articulate it. You don't always, or mostly hardly ever, get to ride the crest of the wave of emotion it may inspire
