The first time I heard this was on a cold Winter day in my car. I pulled over to listen, mesmerized, on an icy road under falling snow, living in a town I hated but couldn't leave. I didn't catch who it was on the radio. It was like the time I saw the most beautiful woman in the world on the Star Ferry crossing from Hong Kong to Kowloon, simply brush the hair out of her eyes, and I saw novels. I listened to the same station hoping to catch the song again and find out who it was. Some time later, I lay in bed late one night and the song came on the radio. I was transfixed when the phone rang. A very rare event in my tiny basement apartment. I didn't jump out of bed to answer it. I had to hear this song again, see the beauty in Hong Kong again, and learn who was singing. The phone rang and rang and then stopped. The next day my mother called me. She said, "Your grandmother died yesterday. I tried to call you."

The emotional power of this song gets me man. We all hear about masterpieces and such as we get older and I think we all will eventually find that one personal "Masterpiece" that is hard to not revisit. Tori is very underrated and In my opinion on a Mozart level of mastery in her music. Her music is amazing.

I have listened to this song all of the time since it was released when I was just going away to college. Now I have a preteen daughter and I keep this song in mind all of the time. I try to be honest with her but not too serious for her age. I an as honest as I can be and afraid I wont ever get to tell her everything she needs to know. Or that we will part with unspoken thoughts and questions. Its an emotional song but an important song to process

How anybody can be in that audience and not lose their ever-loving minds when she starts this song is beyond my ability to understand. One of the most beautiful songs ever created in the history of recorded music. Chills. EVERY. Single. TIME!

Stunning. The lyrics. Her voice. Her prowess on the piano. I just found this video. It’s a masterpiece. She’s beautiful inside and out. The emotion that she shows while singing this song is obvious. She wrote this about her dad which just gives it even more meaning to her and us listening to it. I will be listening to this forever.

Listened to this on my evening walk. I listened to the album version first and then listened to this live performance. It was still playing when I walked up on the porch and I stood and watched my wife feeding our kids through the window. It truly was surreal.

I don't know if it's her voice or the quality of the video but listening to it at 0.75 speed sounds like its own studio version. this song feels like the essence of singer/songwriter.

Often in this world, those with the most important things to say, aren't listened to. I feel that way about Tori. She has produced some of the most fearless and important music in decades.
