I kind of interpreted Cruel Summer to be about having to hide this new relationship, that started out as a friendship. The cruel part is having to hide the relationship and sneak around. Read the full lyrics. It's from the Album lover and that is mostly about Joe..reputation addresses the tabloids/haters/west fued. "I don't wanna keep secrets just to keep you" "you'll say we'll just screw it up in these trying times, we're not trying " "snuck through the garden gate" these lyrics don't sound like tabloid drama and him being there for her during hard times. Just sounds like the beginning of a rocky relationship. May be wrong but that's my take on it. Plus this album was released in 2019 (written in 2018-2019) not 2016 like the video keeps referencing when all this drama was taking place. Edit. So we shouldn't be upset she's in a new relationship that she can be more open with her fans about. She loves sharing stuff with us.

She's coming soon with friends! I KNOW we wouldn't encounter this with the beehive or the divas ( Mariah's fans) - Taylor just gives you the vibe that she is a real friend and a sweet girl just a nice person - I'm sure Selena is cool - but in a group of friends there will always be the one that is just a sweet sweet person.... and Taylor is it.

Don't forget people look often different in person then when in an image. I used to work in LA on films, and there were so many stars who look beautiful on camera, but in real life honestly looked like they were freaks of nature. Some people people can look so fake and gross in real life, but the camera loves them.
