I miss those days of smash mouth football. I was 11 when LT made his debut with Big Blue - it was a thrill to be a Giants fan and watch LT play. Madden & Summerall calling Giants games made it all the more special. Miss those two.

if you want to get technical, if LT played today he would of failed every drug test and been on peppermint suspension. if he did play a few games before getting caught, then yes flags would be flying.
@bird7185 жыл бұрын
@Burt Gummer LOL!!!!!!!!! yeah and people believed him because they knew he was all messed up on drugs. he would wake up his teammates at 5-6am and show up at their houses. probably borrowing money so he can get more blow. i still remember his public service announcements at the theater when i was a little kid, he did all those commercials before the movie starts telling people not to do drugs. everytime i saw a new one i knew he got busted.

LT was AMAZING, but for me, his most enlightening play was when he broke Joe Theisman's leg, (ending Joe's career) The look, and reaction of LT showed the compassion he also had inside him.

“I’m still looking for that next Lawrence Taylor. I haven’t seen that guy”. - Phil Simms Indeed!... Indeed! When I saw LaVar Arrington @ PSU, & the Skins copped him, I thought LA had the skill set to be the next LT. LA at times played like LT but burned out quickly. We will never see anything close to LT again.

Im a old man now. I watched Football since the greatest game ever played (1960) playoff. LT was the best dominant player at any position to ever come along. I heard when he was in College if there was a disturbance downtown, Police would 1st ask if LT was involved. If so, they stayed in there station house. LT was a bad ass all the way around. That was naturally just him. He was a Hyperbred Alley cat let loose on the Football field.

best football pic I ever saw was a picture (from the rear) of Theismann standing over the Redskins center calling signals, and Theismann and the offense were slightly out of focus, and across the line was LT, in focus, and all you saw was the blue jersey, and the white facemask and Taylor's eyes were in focus and trained on Theismann and you saw the back of Theismann's helmet and he appeared to be looking back at Taylor. It was a great photo and I hope to see that pic again somewhere

@boobzac6 жыл бұрын
I disagree. I've been a Giants fan since 63,64 & I saw some rays of sunshine in the 70s. Granted the rain clouds always seemed to roll in but I still say the Giants weren't as bad as history paints them. 1970 was quite a bright year. We even had a shot at the playoffs.

LT was unmatched on the gridiron. But it would have been fascinating to match Ed Coan as a blocking back on LT . Coan at just 218 pounds - was the first powerlifter to exceed 2,400 pounds on three combined lifts. He could deadlift almost 1,000 pounds, squat 1,000 pounds, and bench press almost 600 pounds. Obviously LT was a beast who ran like a gazelle, but I think Coan, who was probably twice as strong, may have stopped him cold.

Much like Michael Vick, and Bo Jackson, it seemed like it was pure athleticism. However, they were actually faster than the game, but they understood the game as scholars. They read and reacted. It looked like just being an awesome athlete. But they were scholars in their craft. Just smarter, faster, and better, as a result of their gifts and game IQ.
