As a travel agent I like he new inclusive pricing. Clients would call and expect the price they saw in an ad. When I quoted them the total cost after taxes, fees and port costs, they were quite surprised and sometimes just said never mind.

The new California law regarding transparent pricing is WONDERFUL!! I hate that you have to go so far into the process to get actual price inclusions. Now i wish that the prices for inside, oceanview and balcony cabins were on the ads instead of just the cheapest cabins.

@@fletchersjohnson Tipping is not required. You can ask not to have the auto daily gratuity added and tip those you think deserve it yourself. It has been my experience that even if you prepay or allow the auto gratuity, some staff still try to guilt you into more to the point that it can be uncomfortable. With the staff cuts that they seem to make every few months since the end of Covid, while adding more customers, one has to wonder if all of the auto tips are actually going to the staff anyway.

I think it’s great that California is making the pricing more transparent. Sometimes I see a price listed and I think it’s so cheap until I add taxes, port taxes, gratuities and single supplement. I hope all cruise lines follow suit.

That is because California has some of the highest cruise taxes in the world. My last Pacific coast cruise fare was less than the port taxes. How clever, the government convincing everyone that hiding their share is good for you.

I was just looking up prices to see how much I'd need to save up and what's the minimum I'd need to cruise at all. Having the actual totals with a breakdown of what's what or if we added dining or excursions etc. alerts if things your Booking are scheduled close together. But we'll see what they do, why would they make it easy for us when they're trying to avoid losing sales from sticker shock. I think if you're going on cruise you just expect it to be thousands, especially if you add airfare and hotel.

Not that exciting. They're just combining port fees & taxes into the minimum price, which is already really easy to see. Still won't be a perfect price because it isn't like there isn't going to be a + or starting at to prices. It'd be ridiculous to make an ad listing EVERY single cabin category pricing. No one would read it. I also doubt it will account for the fact that the port fees and taxes can change, and that isn't even controlled by the cruise line. And it doesn't even cover things like gratuities. For cruising, the law is just a bunch of political fluff.

Yes, I’m glad the pricing change is happening. I’m a fan of “all-inclusive” type pricing. It gets old having to go through a booking process, just to find out the end price of a cruise.

I have better things to do with my time, than spend countless hours on a computer or phone, trying to find an end price. How about this…give us a solid “all-inclusive” price and those of you who don’t wish to participate in something, would be given the option to deduct those prices from the “all-inclusive” price.

Its way past time they stepped up and did the right things by letting you know what the cost is. We were on HAL and ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ so we get free laundry. We were on a 6 wk HAL cruise and 1 of our table mates subsequently got his 4th ⭐️. At dinner he announced "I just spent $50,000 for free laundry!" I thought to myself how true that is, but we love free laundry. It's a great perk. Except 😂😂😂 we now hate HAL and wouldn’t sail with them for free!!! Apologize for running on. 😊

C- With all the last cruises that we have taken, the lines have been incredibly long and hard on many cruisers. The last cruise we were on was on Princess and they did a very good job scheduling so it was pretty easy but some of the other ones that we took were very challenging . This would be my number one and laundry would be my number two.

My hubby and I and our daughter are platinum and we always use our $25. As a matter of fact, my husband and I just sailed a week ago with them and got it. It really bothers me that they did this and didn’t say anything, but at the same time it doesn’t make or break it for me. I will still be sailing with Carnival. as a matter of fact, we leave in 52 days.

I can see why Carnival took away the $25 fun play from Platinum and Diamond cruisers, if you are already a casino player, you would get separate offers based on play. I knew 2 couples who are top tier with Carnival and neither couple gambles. I used Carnival Fun Match to book my cruise coming up in 3 months and I got a free interior room, free drinks in the Casino, and $50 Free Play. When I booked this, I haven't cruised in 15 years prior.

So glad full required price will have to be posted. Other add-ons that can be purchased before or after can follow, (pre-paid gratuities, etc.) in the booking process. If we had to choose a perk, it would be laundry. It would reduce the amount of clothing to pack. We have used the customer laundries on Princess, especially on our Alaska cruise, and have found it extremely helpful.

I like the new pricing structure that cruise lines have to adhere to. Yes we know about the port fees & taxes that have to be added on, but now it is more clearer to the public and lessens the "sticker shock" of the base cruise price to budget for. Of course the ADD ON ITEMS are up to you to have them or not.

So happy total pricing is coming. When booking a cruise with families, It is often overlooked when calculating the total package when the port fees and taxes are not included. Sometimes that can make it or break it for some families. This way they get the total pricing and can decide from there.

B Laundry! Very interesting video, as always! River cruises are very nice, but flooding and drought can disrupt the trip. On a Uniworld Germany trip years ago, it was drought. We were bused to the next city while the ship took a detour.

This kind of onest pricing law has been the law in Australia for at least 10 years. One of the biggest "offenders" were card dealerships advertising a headline car price plus d&d (being at least hundreds of dollars in "dealer and delivery charges").

C we just got back from 9 day on the NCL SUN be the way it was great except for smoking in the casino,which made it a no go.
