All cruise lines hire a private outside firm to conduct the security screening before boarding. Agents need retraining on interpreting images on the X ray machines. Possibly slowimg down. They run them wothout stopping.

We’ve been on the Venezia twice! Once in October and then again in February,we just got off the ship on Sunday. Emril Lagasse has worked on the menu and the food was excellent! I’m talking about the main dining room. Entertainment was excellent! The ship is very pretty with an authentic gondola in the main dining room!! Had a great time with the Cruise Director Mar Q, he has a great personality! Staff was friendly and everyone seemed to be happy and having a great time.

Before our first cruise, my husband wasn't interested at all. He was talking to his brother one day about going on a vacation together and the sister-in-law decided we should take a cruise to Alaska (I wanted to cruise, but hoped for a warm destination!). Halfway through the 7 day trip hubby sheepishly admitted how he loved waking up every morning in a different city without having to pack/unpack his suitcase! NCL made the right decision to not go to Venice. Venice made the right decision on cruise lines. I think Venice should just be for land-based tourism. There are plenty of other wonderful cities in Italy and surrounding countries where cruising is more appropriate.

I do have to wonder what the original police-search was for... did he indeed purchase it from someone on the street and the police knew it? or, was there something about his behavior to make them stop the man? they had to have some fairly strong reason to stop him... my guess is, Saint-Lucia law would not allow random stop and searches without reasonable cause/suspicion would it... at least a police state is not something I associate with that place.

@@kathysokol7397 Actually not totally. I lived in Naples as a child and while I was fairly safe in our area and catching the school bus it wasn’t safe for me to be without my parents nearby. That said the dangers were mostly pickpockets and maybe rarely abduction. In Singapore, as an expat, adult, I was pretty safe even at night by myself but I was still cautious. Same with the 3 weeks I spent in Hong Kong too. I also visited an off broadway theatre and walked back to the hotel alone, at night, in NYC! Not the brightest thing I’ve ever done either, but mostly drunks and a few homeless around on well lit streets. Without know the laws of a country I’d be concerned in many countries but mostly for being 2 women alone. All of that being said, women have the keen sense that tells them they shouldn’t be where they are and normally act on it. Men not so much. But, I just don’t believe there’s anything near the port in Belize to browse.

I’d get rid of the requirement of being women. Yes, women in many countries have more difficulty traveling, especially alone, but Belize has had some gangs, at times, that everyone was cautioned to stay away from travel. It wouldn’t matter the sex of the travelers! I’ve only been on tours in Belize but I don’t remember going through anywhere that looked like browsing was a good idea. Several places we were told we shouldn’t be there after dark -- as we zipped pass on a bus. While the port area looks like most other port areas with diamond, gold, and silver it still is a place to walk around or maybe even have a drink. If you want to see the rest of the island there are tours that do that. I’d check about the safety of taxis but they’d seem safer to me! Btw, we did an island tour there really wasn’t anything to distinguish the sand an vegetation from other places. If I could find a realtor willing, I might consider seeing what apartments are for sale, or rent though! They would give me a better way to see how the people lived! Edit, make that expats live😇
