We were on Quantum for the June 6th sailing and we didn't go to Tracy Arms because of icebergs or ice. An interesting thing on that sailing was there was an BIG engine fire and I noticed that none of the YTubers reported that story. We were delayed 4 hours sailing. It felt like we hit something or something hit us but the "boom" was a fire. There were pictures of crew in fire-suits running. Bravo bravo this is not a drill this is not a drill announced all over the ship!

We're on the August 1 Quantum of the Seas sailing and received the disappointing email yesterday. We fully understand that they can change the itinerary at any time per the cruise contract, but $100 doesn't seem like great compensation for the changes. Hopefully they will change their minds and provide more to the cruisers impacted.

Thanks Don for the heads-up on the Arrive Can App. We're on the Queen Mary 2 going from NYC to Quebec City at the end of September. Cunard hasn't notified of this requirement. Another good reason to watch your channel!

tbh they probably wont until things more certain. We travelled (Cunard) on QE before Xmas this year and QM2 in Feb, and countries entry requirements changed literally the day we travelled several times and on way back the UK requirement changed on the ship!. Must stress Cunard were great and gave free (working) wifi to allow German and Portugese entry form/apps to be used when they were introduced whilst sailing! They have protocols to make app and websites free (or did in Dec and Feb) so I wouldn't worry too much,

I'm a Royal fan, but I think they're really being unfair with their compensation on these cruises. At least, and I do mean the least they should do is per per person, not per cabin. I'm not involved with this. It's strictly my opinion from the outside.

On the last cruise we went on in 2020, we were told 8-12 weeks before the ship was having engines issues, having to go slower so we were scheduled to missed two ports, we did managed to get one of these ports back , as everyone was on board 30 minutes before scheduled to leave, we got a good money back per person and a good captain.

Our sailing on RCCL missed Endicott oand Dawes Arm as there was too many icebergs. It sucks, but its life, its just how traveling works, always count on something having to change for one reason or another.

ArriveCan has a flaw, it does not have an option to just drive through Canada. I live in Michigan and our daughter lives in Vermont. Last weekend we drove to Vermont, entered at Sarnia and exited at Niagara falls. I had to put in an address in Canada where I was staying, I didn't stay. I put in the address of Customs & Border Patrol.

It has many flaws to be honest. Back in April my mother had left the country and arrived back 4 days before we decided to take a trip across to shop in the USA. When she filled it out it would not process her to allow her back and we had issues at the land border because of it. We attempted it on 2 phones and three times but nope. The only thing we could think was how she answered if she had traveled outside of Canada in the last 14 days ( she had to the USA). I so cannot wait until it is dropped.

We're booked for an August sailing on the Quantum also and received the news about the itinerary change yesterday. I realize that according to the RCCL Cruise Ticket Contract they have the right to change or deviate for any reason. If the ship is having mechanical issues, that's serious and needs to be dealt with. So why are they waiting until August to fix them? As of now, the July itineraries are not being affected. And the compensation being offered is not nearly sufficient .

Just a thought.... what do you prefer, an cruise ship having engine trouble, or a commercial jet with engine trouble? At least Quantum did NOT strike an iceberg. Hi from uk. Arrived at Calgary airport 6 June for pre-cruise trip including Rocky Mountaineer’ Amazing (once our luggage joined us 2 days later!) onto Alaskan cruise to From Vancouver to Alaska. We were in a group of 30 people and 8 of the people that arrived from uk got randomly tested for COVID even though we were all required by Viking to produce an antigen negative covid certificate taken 24 hours before flying. They were bombarded by phone calls afterwards saying they needed to be tested again 5 days later at a cost of I believe 300 dollars! Unfortunately Viking Orion encountered technical difficulties and we spent 36 hours in Vancouver harbour. Offered 500 dollars per person future cruise credit for missing Sitka, reasonable we thought. Everything worth it as Alaska amazing and more than lived up anything I could have imagined.

We were on the Quantum a week ago. Missed a port (icy straight point) due to medical evacuation on day 2. They never told us about engine troubles, just kept going on about the medical emergency causing us to miss the port etc.. i call an half truth to this. If the engines were operating fully, we would have made that port visit. My opinion. It just angers me that Royal hid their mechanical problems behind someone’s medical emergency.

We had this a few years back on the Harmony of the Seas in the Caribbean. Only 2 of the 3 engine pods were functioning. Ship cruised slower, missed ports and changed itinerary. They offered absolutely nothing. Also, you could tell the ship was limping along with more vibration because it was I think the starboard side engine that wasn't working, so the center and the port side engines were operating which I think caused the ship to not go straight so they probably had to apply rudder to keep it straight and you could constantly feel vibrations throughout the ship. It was frustrating because we booked that cruise for the original port of calls.

Hi Don, just to clarify, Quantum of the Seas is no longer going to Endicott Arm and Dawes Glacier for the August 1st, 8th, and 15th sailings. I don't believe Tracy Arm Fjord is on the itinerary. I am going next month on Quantum of the Seas and our itinerary has not been impacted and we are still going to the Glacier area, but I think you may be right with the parts and how long it may take to get them to make the fix to the "engine issue". There is a lot of debate going on right now why Royal isn't changing other cruise schedules, who knows. Thanks for the news (I follow you and Tony quite a bit and was so happy to have met on Wonder of the Seas inaugural cruise, it's been awhile, hello!) Take care man.

Sounds like a poor design decision as they have 6 engines but 2 only provide 2,500kW ea. Compare specs to Norwegian Bliss - both use XO Azipods. Royal must not be able to generate enough electricity when in “limp” mode.

That's just obscene and shady A.F. on Disney's part. Up and above that, once someone has a few too many to drink, a lot of people cease to use judgement. I can see someone getting pretty tipsy, and out of bravado or to be a showoff, buying that drink and regretting it the next day. We are on the August 1st sailing on Quantum and are so disappointed. So many of us would rather they dropped one of the ports rather than skipping the glacier since that is a main reason we purchased this cruise. But, sort of hoping a lot of people cancel and it’s a less crowded sailing.

and now you know why i go inside cabin on the cheapest cruises last minute (although the new trend is not lowering prices as the sail date gets closer) used to be the norm. i do not buy insurance cause i do not spend thousands. my comfort level price is $90 a day including all port fees/taxes/gratuities/airfare/baggage fees/transfer costs. i really like $40 a day to $60 but with all the inflation and fuel prices the main 3 cruise companies have diluted there stock by new stock offerings in 100 of millions because they need MONEY TO OPERATE after Covid. i do not sail on the smallest ships either cause its not worth the experience usually. occasionally they will have a great itinerary for great value. but he ship has little to offer on sea days, unless you drink drink drink.

The current captain and the ship also has a reputation for skipping or missing ports. Will that keep you updated if we miss going to Tracy arm fjord on Saturday. At this time we are still having a great time and the crew are wonderful.I am currently on the quantum of the seas. The engine went down sometime in the middle of the night Monday night into Tuesday morning. We also had a medical emergency on Tuesday. They had to be life flighted off of the ship and sent to Vancouver. Do not know if the person who was flighted off the ship was a crewmember or a passenger. They were asking for blood donations early Tuesday morning from the crew. This week we skipped the port of icy straight point. Had to tender in to Skagway today. They have not said anything about us missing are going to the Tracy arm fjord on Saturday.

No, shareholder credit is per stateroom. No need to buy more than the 100 shares unless you're gambling 😉. For each cruise you have to fax/email proof that you still own 100 shares. Amount of benefit is based on length of cruise. We just got $250 OBC for an upcoming 16-day cruise. If you are also a veteran you can get credit for both, so we got $250 for my husband's veteran status + $250 shareholder = $500 OBC!

If what you stated is what you meant to say, that is incredible compensation for the inconvenience incurred by these passengers (especially relatively late in their cruise, the vast majority of which they've already enjoyed)!!
