Morning Doug, I live in Philly now. I see this beautiful dying ship all the time. Unfortunately, I believe it will be lost. I wish it would be bought and refurbished. It has incredible history.

It breaks my heart to see the United States in that condition. I sailed transatlantic on her in around 1966. I was looking at a post card of her that was bought on board just a couple of days ago. So sad...

In 1968 my Army Dad and the rest of my family traveled to Germany on the USS UNITED STATES! It was a beautiful ship and a wonderful cruise. I was 15 with my own cabin - other person didn't show up. I loved every minute of it. It was high class and every night was dress for dining. What an adventure!! ❤️ 😊

That’s terrible news for the USS United States, if they had millions to move her they could have paid the dock fees (which were raised to a crazy high level by the docks owner as a way to get her to move)… They don’t have it… she will most likely be scrapped at this point and that’s just very sad to see a piece of history lost.

That must be a hell of an extension cord at the port of Miami to plug into those cruise ships 😂😂😂 That’s a wonderful investment for the port and the various ships that dock there, Well Done!!!

I can imagine when they plug the first ship into shire power everyone's lights flicker. When they plug 2 ships in the city goes dark 😂🤣😂🤣😂

Mornin' Doug! I'm afraid it's getting a bit late in the day for the USS United States. The longer it sits the expensive it's going to be, especially for the engineering spaces. That's a shame, and I hope something comes through, but I think it's going to be a rough road.

I occasionally check in on Port Miami via webcams. You clearly see a lot of exhaust from the oil burning ships while idling at the dock. Adding shore power seems to be a good move.
