Hello again Lucy. If you remember I was a cruise ship nurse. When I joined my first ship Grand Princess there was a crew drill within 10 mins of being on board, my senior said I was a rabbit in the head lights. As time progressed my role was i/c stretcher party and I am proud of how professional we were able to train a team to carry out their role including chest compressions and log rolling, with much fun included. These guys, many laundry gave up their time time on sea days for training. On a US Coast Guard inspection they were very highly praised. I love what you are doing and would be happy to help with any medical/safety issues. Best wishes Si

You should be a cruise new hire liaison if there is such a thing and if not, you should suggest it! You are so good at explaining things and you know what's expected from both sides of a cruise employee ....you are serious and detailed for the cruiseline side and you've been through it from the employee side.

I hope that all of the crew on my next cruise are as professional and well trained as you are.

Great stuff and it is obviously you have been trained! I have been on 15 cruises and didn't realize how much has gone into the safety drills I hear all the times! GOOD luck in your future travels

The worst part about working on a cruise. Nothing worse than that damn alarm waking you tf up on your time off

We train the Royal Navy for fire fighting and I’m interested to know how many times you’ve had a single long alarm during your contracts? I would expect first aid firefighting by experienced galley crew means that it’s unlikely to reach a single alarm event.

This is quite interesting, thank you for sharing! When you get the alert to get your life preserver and go to your muster station, are you proceeding at a normal pace and not really drawing attention, or are you running to your cabin, getting your things and running to your muster station?

Hi Lucy!!! Hope I see you when I start my contract. How do I obtain the STCW certificate?

I heard that if there's an emergency, we need to be calm the first 30 seconds, so we will think and react better.
