I heard a rumor that specialty restaurants are included when suite cruising. Do you know if that is true on Celebrity Edge Class ships? We are cruising on the “Beyond” in June and would like to try all of the “specialty restaurants” on our 11 night cruise.

Specialty dining is including with the following suites: Iconic Suite, Edge Villa, Reflection Suite, Penthouse Suite, Royal Suite, Signature Suite Dining at Luminae, and the complimentary restaurants (which you shouldn't miss on Edge series) is included for all suites. I've also been able to go to Blu upon request (with no additional charge) - but that's not a guarantee. If you book an Always Included non-guaranteed rate into The Retreat, all rooms include $300 per person OBC, so that helps cover a lot of specialty dining as well.

The Retreat sundeck on Equinox isn't quite as robust, since only Edge series were designed with this from the start, but the remainder of the offerings are similar (albeit in different shapes/styles). If I recall, there is technically an itemized price list, but since you can bring things from the Retreat Lounge, your butler will stock things that you ask for, etc, this doesn't seem something well-adhered to. I'd not be surprised to find out if the experience varies in this way.

Is this the same for the retreat suite on celebrity solstice?

The general program is the same, but the room layouts and Retreat spaces are different since Solstice is a different class of ship. Also, on Edge series ships have all of this in one general area of the ship (since The Retreat concept is new-ish). So you still get those same types of benefits and such, but the layout is different, and I don't believe The Retreat on other classes has a pool, but I think they do have a hot tub.

On Celebrity, Royal Suites and above include specialty dining. Other suites, such as Sky Suites, do not. They do, like other suites, include premium drinks, premium wifi, and $600 of onboard credit.

Not in Sky Suites - though given the total linear closet space, ample bathroom storage, etc, I'd have personally felt it to be wasted space if there was a walk in.

What I still don't understand is, for example, if you're in a suite and have the premium drinks package, WHY do they charge you for drinks for room service or even in the dining rooms. It's surely just pure greed, because for a suite and premium drinks package, you've already paid well over the top to have all inclusive drinks, so WHAT gives with any scenario where they still want to charge you for drinks. Plus, this only happens because we let it happen, we should all put a complaint in every time it happens.

One correction, you do NOT pay for drinks in the dining room when you have a beverage package (regardless of whether it is in one of the main restaurants, Luminae, Blue, or a specialty). The only line I'm aware of that does anything like this is MSC, where the drink packages don't work in the specialty restaurants. As for the room service, while annoying (agreed), it's standard practice, I suspect simply because it takes a lot to support from a service delivery side. If you order a drink from room service, and then another, and another, you're tying up a person for a long time. Do that at a bar and it's a matter of seconds. The one I find far stranger is mini-bar drinks. This seems to be selectively enforced in The Retreat, but across the board on all non-inclusive lines but MSC, drink packages don't cover the mini bar. On MSC, FWIW, it depends on the level of accommodation and the type of drink package.

In the S1 and S2 Sky Suites the bed faces the balcony/water - which many love. The TV is on a pivoting mount, so if you want to watch TV in bed, you can, with one finger, swing it to face that way. If you get the garanteed suite option, how bad of a suite could you get? I dont mind the magic carpet, but what kind of suite is worse than that? Btw... love all your videos! We are currently trying to plan a Feb. 4 th 7 nights Caribbean cruise on the new Ascent.

With any guarantee, you could get any room at all in the type of accommodation you booked (inside | OV | verandah | suite) or higher. So a guaranteed suite could be ANY of the suite types and locations. If there is one you really don't want (perhaps you don't like the location, or the layout) then this may not be a good option for you. For us, we're not too picky, and often book guarantees. ​@@CruiseNewbs If I recall, the Sky Suites along the Magic Carpet are mostly S3s, and it would seem reasonable that they might be more likely to be assigned as a GTY, but it really just depends, as move up offers, last minute cancellations, etc could potentially open up anything. For us personally, the "worst" suite might just be one all the way aft if we'd been planning to spend a lot of time at The Retreat sun deck (all the way forward) - but those aft Sky Suites (Sunset Sky Suites) tend to be very popular with folks that love aft facing balconies. Some don't like the S3s b/c the beds don't face the window and they don't have the mirror/window setup in the bathroom. Some are worried the magic carpet will make noise or block their view (we heard nothing, but did notice extra shade from the MC some times). The S3 we had was actually on the edge of the Magic Carpet track, and had a couple neat benefits b/c of that (over the S1 we had). Depends where we're sailing, who we are with, the occasion, etc. Celebrity Edge quickly became a favorite of ours, and we're on Apex in a week and a half. Right now we're on our third Scarlet Lady sailing for a reason though 😍 There are some great new ships and experiences out there, including Edge series, for sure.

S1 and S2 look like the one in this video. S3 Sky Suites on Edge Series are laid out differently, and have the balcony built into/around the Magic Carpet tracks. S3s also do not have the window from the bedroom. Where some like the S3s is that they share a common vestibule of sorts with single staterooms, so they can be great for families.

Aqua class includes access to Blu (a restaurant) and access to the thermal suite, as well as priory spa reservations, and some other minor thing. The rooms in Aqua class are essentially the same as other verandah staterooms, and Retreat ammeneties and access (lounge, concierge, Luninae, high speed internet, premium drinks, etc) are NOT included in Aqua class bookings.

Small room to be called a suite. Been in standard balcony cabins that look almost as big. Main difference was turning the bed. Looks like a nice ship but if I paid suite prices and got that room I would not be impressed.

Not sure which ship's standard verandah stateroom you might be referring to. This Sky Suite is about 319 square feet without the balcony factored in. This puts it at about 173% the size of a typical infinite verandah room on Edge, which is about 184 sq ft. A typical verandah stateroom on Oceania Marina (which has extraordinarily large rooms) is about 242 sq ft. The Sky Suite felt quite spacious, with not only a larger bathroom and more storage, but a very open feel in the living area, where we had champagne and snacks with a total of eight people, something we couldn't have comfortably done in any standard stateroom we've enjoyed.

Before I booked the sky suite, I compared many variables, but first and foremost, the square footage. I've been in veranda cabins on RCCL, Princess and Carnival. We will be enjoying a minimum of 50% more area. I agree with you on principle. I would consider suite having a separate bedroom. But even many hotels are using the term 'executive suite' when referring to a bigger room.
